Shame I can't bump this thread, Kabak looked terrible today for Pool @Burnsy : http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/adam-webster.55931/#post-2752270 Slow, not good in the air, and poor concentration. Early days but I still just don't see it with him.
Not seen him for Liverpool yet but he has the 3rd best aerial duel success rate in the Bundesliga this season. Opta says he won 2/3 aerial duels on Saturday?
Although WyScout says he won 1/3 aerial duels on Saturday. And InStat says he made 6 with a 67% success rate. So who really knows what to believe haha
Voted man of the match in his second performance whilst keeping a clean sheet playing alongside a central midfielder against Julian Nagelsmann's RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night...
Voted MotM by whom? Leipzig played crap. Kabak was terrible again in the PL against Everton yesterday, worst player on the pitch narrowly edging out Doucoure. He gets stuck under so many simple high balls and has zero awareness of runners.
Since my Boro supporting mate mentioned Dael Fry I've tried to watch abit of him. Tbf he looks absolute class though I'm looking forward to seeing Branthwaite on Wednesday. Both young English CB's. Callum O'Hare who I never really see having a bad game would be very welcome. But it depends on which league we're in next season I suppose.
Fry I think is probably good enough for the prem. O’Hare would probably only be a good edition for the Championship
If we do go up I would love to see some more money invested in these players. Problem is clubs would charge an arm and a leg which is understandable. And keep looking down the pyramid as well.
Alex Mowatt on a free in the summer would be a good piece of business. Not that we sign CM’s, but still.
Striker Renard Dansleboite (31) is available in the Summer. He is a kind of French version of Kevin Phillips as he has always scored goals throughout his career, could he be our mythical FOX IN THE BOX?
I was desperate for us to sign him in January. Think I mentioned him here at least once, if not several times. Would have been available for 1m or so back then. Good at set pieces, excellent at pressing now too and very good on the ball.
Harder to criticise our overall policy when you look at it like that. Just a shame we didn't invest in a good striker and CB two to three years ago.
Gerson Rodrigues 6'2" ATM/Striker currently at Dynamo Kyiv, born in Portugal but now plays for Luxembourg. He scored the winner against Eire yesterday and generally looked a real livewire, and most importantly from Gino's point of view should not cost a lot of money. Based on yesterdays performance could be well worth a shout IMO.
Looking at his record he might be worth a punt if we stay in the Championship, but probably not good enough for the Premier League
I'm not really up on transfers from abroad but just looking at the teams we've played this season, I would say Olise (Reading), Brannan (Sheffield Wednesday) and Armstrong (Blackburn) would be excellent buys if we make it to the Prem. Can we afford them? I have no idea but I believe they would not only keep us up but take us a fair way up the table. Here's hoping!
Olise will be on the lips of every club tbf, be amazing if we could get him! Bannan is too old and wouldn't be good enough at Prem level, I saw that Brentford are interested in him if they don't go up, would be a good bargain buy for depth for teams around the top of the Championship. Armstrong for me would be the most likely of those three to be signed if we seal the deal, had a good season but is slowing down alongside the rest of that Blackburn team, would be an upgrade on anyone we have, but I'm not fully convinced he'd be good at Prem level, as a goalscorer or as a footballer
I'm hoping that Olise would see that regular football with Watford in the Prem would get him a top 6 move later on. Olise down one wing and Sarr down the other is a mouth-watering prospect. Even the big boys would be careful not to press too high and that in itself would take some of the pressure off our defence. You're right, Bannan is too old on the face of it but sometimes play makers find the game easier as they get older, they may be slower but they see things quicker and have more time. I just wonder if he would be worth a punt and strengthen the squad. Armstrong has been out injured for a while but bragged a brace this afternoon. He is quick and if we play with two fast wingers, our striker needs to keep up with them!
