Linked on the mirror’s transfer thread as one of four PL clubs interested in Bristol City CB Adam Webster.

 

No idea how good he is.

But he's a defender - yay!

Going to Palace I expect - boo.

 

He’s way too good for us

 

Exactly the type of talented CB we should be targeting. 8 to 10 million at least but worth fighting over I reckon.

Not seen too much of him. Seems great in the air, but perhaps a bit sluggish across the ground. Wouldn't say no, but def seems a Burnley type player (albeit he's a southerner).

 

Bristol signed him only last summer for £3m rising to £8m - obviously, we have no idea how many of those add-ons have been triggered but that wouldn't be much profit for Bristol. They don't sell cheap either as Bournemouth found out recently. I reckon at least £15m, although he is one of the better CBs in the Championship so probably worth a decent fee.

 

So more expensive than Kabak. I know who'd id take a punt on.

I said in the Kabak thread that he didn't seem that great from what I've seen of him; perhaps he's a prospect, but right now I honestly doubt he'd really improve us.

I'll be surprised if he does end up at Bayern, or if he does go there that he plays many games for them for a good season or two at least.

 

Bayern hoovering up the ones we reject.

No wonder Brexit is such a good idea.

 

Perhaps Bayern can greater afford to take a still costly punt on such a prospect that hasn't really shown too much yet.

It's not clear that they actually want to sign him either - Kabak's agent seems to be shipping him around still.

Absolutely no idea how that supposedly ties in to Brexit either.

 

It is the uncertainty which is killing business.

A statement from Boris or Moose would be instructive.

Can I ask what you’ve based your opinion of Kabak on? He is very highly rated and has impressed enough in his months at Stuttgart to win the Bundesliga equivalent of Young Player of the Season.

Beyond their playoff game at the end of the season, he has been very very good for them. He would clearly improve us at the back.

Bayern are getting rid of Hummels and Boateng. If he ends up there, he will likely get a fair few games.

 

I would only conclude that the CBs we are looking at our definitely an upgrade on what we have. As long as we don't muck about too much we should get one or two of our targets.

 

Maybe - but with the number of EPL clubs supposedly chasing Webster, I think that rules us out.

Villa have had a bid of £12m rejected. So I’d say that’s close to ruling us out as well.

 

Interesting. If true suggests they aren't too confident of keeping Tuanzebe and/or Mings for next season.

Thing is, the Bristol City owner is loaded. But it’s still something when Bristol City who haven’t been in the PL and were in League One a few years back even, are spending more on CB’s than we ever have.

I know we aren’t a profitable club in terms of turnover - but I do wonder where the Richarlison and TV money has gone to an extent.

 

We were warned this would be the case when the Pozzo's took over. They are business men.

 

Gone on running costs ground improvements etc if for sake of argument you have 11 players on 5ok pcm thats 550k pcm thats 6.5m gone for starters , rest of squad , support staff etc policing bills utilities etc ,servicing loans ,this all adds up mate.
