Granada is a backwater though isn’t it? That’s what I was told when Suarez went there at least. Quina is too good for them if anything.
It's a weird one, far more talented than anyone we've got in the midfield, but for a variety of reasons, it's not worked out for him here yet. He desperately needs a run of games, but he won't get that here under Xisco even when fully fit. Shocked that it's Granada in for him, I thought a loan might do him good, but to a mediocre Championship or Portuguese club, not a Spanish club in Europe!
Defensively too weak for a midfielder, he's a liability. Gives away possession too often going forward. Chalobah is rightly criticised for his poor distribution but Quina is just as bad. Physically weak. Continually picks up knocks. As a comparison, Gosling's transfer was met by some with the claim he's always injured yet his record for Bournemouth shows he's involved in 20+ games a season for them. Quina has barely been involved in that amount of games in his (albeit short) career.
He's been poor this season, a real disappointment - a loan would be good for him. Any excuse for some on here to wet the bed though.
If it does come off though, I'd be very surprised if we see him again in a Watford shirt in the far from unlikely scenario of us not going up. Been a very frustrating time for him and us of late, but there's certainly a player there, would be a shame if we never get to see him again
Or they have a setup and coach who plays to players individual strengths and Quina looks far better there than he did here when he was asked to play on the wing and play turgid stuff under Ivic? I suspect PZ has taken his spot as ‘player under-used/played out of position’ for the rest of the season and the club don’t feel they need depth anywhere on the pitch.
Long range shot merchant who has yet to show any real quality. Would be no great loss if we replaced him adequately but we won't, so this makes no sense.
The idea that a championship player has to go to a side near the top of La Liga for more minutes is laughable Club owners just openly mugging off the fans at this point
Disagree mostly. Can get shoved off the ball easy and could do with bulking up like JP. But has made more tackles per game than Hughes and Garner. Does give the ball away but usually because he's actually trying to make something happen. More key passes per game than Chalobah, Cleverley and Hughes.
In my defence, I’m wetting the bed purely because we seem to be selling the whole midfield at this rate when we actually needed to add to it! And before the window, most of us were saying we need more players who carry the ball and are creative from midfield areas - you’re right to say Quina has been very poor but he was literally the only one who offered the hope of the above traits. Tomorrow surely has to see a raft of incomings of all these outgoings come to pass!
Quina isn’t quite good enough for the championship so far. Which part of you think it is best to loan him to a La Liga team to “boost his value”. Given we have little cover in midfield why do you think this is wise? He is obviously better than our poor youth team output so at least a viable option: Is there anything Pozzo does which you don’t agree with?
I've no idea of Granada's strengths or weaknesses but I doubt very much if they're looking at Quina as an automatic starter. As I said earlier, a succession of head coaches here have left him out on a continued basis and when he has started, even in the Championship, he's not exactly set the world alight. If Granada see something in him then good luck to both them and the player, but his 26 league appearances since August 2018 suggest he won't be missed.
Some? It's utter warfare on Watford twitter at the moment. All it will take is a player they really like, like Hughes, to go and the whole thing will come tumbling down.
I think he has the ability skill and passing wise offering some forward threat in a few games when we weren't really playing an attacking style. True physically he might not be physically ready. Another one hyped up when signed of course only to not really play.
Pineapple isn't for me, and pizza's got to be eaten by hand. I eat sausage rolls and pastries with a knife and fork though.
How many minutes has he played Jumbolina? A genuine question because I'm surprised he's made it on the pitch 14 times to be honest.
Yep. And yet some of our fans still lap it up. “ Needs minutes? Makes sense he goes to La Liga. Solid, solid business from Gino”
2 members of the Andre Gray clique on the way out then. Hopefully this gives our cancerous number 18 the urge to finally f*ck off
Considering the overriding feeling was that the entire team couldn't be judged based on the fact it was coached by Vlad The Defender, it'd be fair to say that his talents weren't used to their potential. To reiterate, a Spanish team in the Europa League see something in him enough to 'want him' as per Leventhal. So I guess they see something in him that we don't. Or the world has indeed turned upside down.
So he need minutes but you don’t think he will start for Granada. But like his situation here then. Pozzo is laughing at you.
I've never said he needs minutes. You're aiming that at the wrong poster, sorry. I've said he hasn't played because he hasn't been trusted by any coach here.
As an aside, they must be envious that Granada have become a better club than Watford and Udinese since Pozzo sold them. Bit of a kick in the nuts for the Pozzo model. Yes it works bringing a small club to the top flight, but then you need to set it free. Take the hint.
Yeah, I've just looked up his stats. Hit and miss isn't it. 3x90mins, 4 if you include an 89minute outing. Bits and pieces elsewhere including 3x1minute appearances. If he was good enough he should be commanding if not a starting spot then at least be getting on regularly from the bench. 1x direct goal involvement as far as I can see. The only way his move away from the club is idiotic is if no other player is bought in to at least cover his place in the squad. Otherwise I just don't see how he'll be missed.
So basically half and he’s now been injured for a while. Not seen much to show me he’s going to play an important role at the club.
