Come on now, he's the same age as Ben Wilmot. The same age as Jo Hungbo. A year older than Dan Phillips. The fact he isn't a regular starter at 21 isn't exactly a massive slight on his ability.

Tell you what if Pozzo brings in Gosling plus 2 other first team squad midfielders tomorrow then I’ll admit I’m wrong. Otherwise he is an imbecile.

    I’m not sure we have enough BWO membership forms. Who’s gonna print more out @GoingDown @wfcmoog @Jumbolina @NathWFC @Smudger @Chumlax @IRB ?

I’ve added a few new names. I feel they’ve done more than enough in recent weeks to join the ranks.

Someone send a form to @Carpster for sure. He’s 24hrs away from fully signing up I feel.

The reaction to this news far outweighs what Quina offers us.
He's always been the very definition of squad filler yet a potential move away is met with much gnashing of teeth.

As I said to Jumbolina, if he goes and we don't fill his space with someone else then yes, stupid move by the club.
But if by him leaving somehow means we get someone in who can actually make a positive difference to the side then I'm more than happy to see him go.

As for comparisons, Wilmot has at least shown some semblance of quality at this level as well as a maturity off the pitch which has some talk of him being a future captain.

Phillips & Hungbo are more apt as they too wouldn't be missed if they're let go this window.

Bloke with 14 appearances this year and fleeting moments of quality in premier league is equivalent of losing Phillips or Hungbo. Righto.

Not only that, our squad beyond the 11 (and even within it) is pathetic. We haven't the luxury of getting rid of am attacking dimension for midfield from the bench.

Sure Quinoa won't start many, but he offers something none of our other midfielders do and should be an option.

He's not been in any squad, 1st team or academy, since January 9th. Has anybody noticed he's been missing?

Who, since Quina last played, has said 'If only Quina was fit, he's the one to make a difference'?

He's contributed very little in his time here and is always a better player when out of the side.

Rightly or wrongly, as I see it he's suited to an attacking role so as it stands he's either going to now play wide right or wide left, similar to Sarr or Sema or Zinckernagel, even Joao Pedro at a push. I don't see him getting in ahead of any of those. Maybe in the hole behind a striker but that's been filled considerably by Deeney. He ain't playing there.

He isn't good enough or suited to replace Cleverley, Chalobah, Hughes or now Gosling in the current set up.

We’ve removed Garner and Capoue from our midfield. He had some bright moments this year and is a squad option in a way our youth players are not. Sending him loan is an act of idiocy unless we bring in Gosling plus 2 more tomorrow. It isn’t rocket science.

He’s played a significant number of minutes and your opinion of him is of little interest to me. This is simply a matter of numbers in a 46 game season.

Utterly bizarre. Not quite as weird as Chalobah to Leicester but still makes little sense.

You'd hope that that meant there was an attacking midfielder lined up, but there won't be. We know the score.

Whats that now, 3 midfielders left? Well at least Cleverley can go for a full 60 mins before needing to go off, and thank god Hughes is never injured!!!

Oh wow, I just made a glib joke about how he might be our new midfield saviour with all these outgoings and now I learn he's been absent for 3 weeks lol.

In an ideal world, Quina would be playing regularly here, but that ain't happening, so the next best thing is a loan away to a club where he will play regularly and gain a bit of confidence and experience. Is Granada the ideal type of loan from our point of view? Doubt it, I very much doubt it...

I don’t think he’ll be particularly missed, because he hasn’t consistently offered a great deal. Not trusted by a succession of managers, despite showing fleeting glimpses of genuine quality.

He’s one more in the growing line of players to arrive at Watford FC, show basically no development, and leave having taken backward steps in their career due to a lack of football, or playing for a club with above-average turnover in coaches and no discernible style of play.

We do an absolutely disgraceful job of developing players and adding to their value, both in terms of on-field production, and as a transferable asset.

What’s the point of us anymore?

I’m generally nervous when he is in the team and I would not want him in a midfield two. So if we get someone else in it makes plenty of sense. Much more concerned about Chalobah.

I've already agreed with you on the first point. By not bringing in a body to replace any outgoings would of course be stupid so I'm not sure of your need to keep repeating it.

Your second point is somewhat shortsighted. What's the point in having someone filling a space at the club when the likelihood is there isn't a place for him in the side?

Surely get him out and get someone in who can make a difference.

The two points are connected, no?

I have a soft spot for him because I like the way he plays and he never seems to hide, even when having a bad game. I think in the right formation he'd be good, but it's not any formation we play.

Rationally thinking, him leaving temporarily or permanently isn't going to impact us that much. Need to bring in someone who's a better fit though, otherwise my sheets will be wet come tomorrow night.

Last point from me as this is tedious. He made 14 appearances before his injury. Irrespective of your opinion he was making a contribution (great or small). Your first post you didn’t think he had played much so I dare say your views on him are not particularly credible.

This is it in a nutshell. The one thing Quina does possess is a decent shot from distance which if he becomes clever enough can be used to dummy defenders and find someone else open. And his willingness to take on players and get beyond. It was a frustrating time watching him. Sometimes decent sometimes not so but he is still young and we wasted last season with him being mismanaged when he should have been on loan. That is the sort of thing we lack off the bench when we may need to chance our hand.

Hungbo and Phillips especially need to go on loan. Wilmot needs to be brought back into the side. More mismanagement of a young player. At least he had playing time last season but just as he is showing signs of what he is capable of he is benched for Troost-Ekong. On the foolish basis of seniority.

Troost-Ekong's distribution which was touted as being excellent is pretty wayward. And at times he has lost the ball dawdling resulting in two opposition chances. Now part of the problem is the lack of movement in midfield around him but he has had a tendency to overhit his passes to Sarr and out towards Sema. Furthermore while he has sometimes carried the ball he has also lost it in equal measure and sometimes seems reluctant when there is space infront of him. Wilmot does things simply. His passing has improved between the lines even finding Pedro with speedy passes and he carries the ball as one should expect from a former midfielder with comfort.

I cannot fathom why one would drop a player when his form and attitude has been excellent. Supposing Sierralta aside from the one implosion at Stoke is dropped to allow Cathcart back in we would all question it I am sure although Craig is a dedicated servant of the club nothing would justify dropping our Chilean rock.

A bit like Dimitri Foulquier who starts every week for Granada and also had successful loans at Getafe and Strasbourg but we never gave a chance to. Oh apart from when Quique scapegoated him and hauled him off after about 25 minutes of the 8-0 at City even though he was at no more fault than any of the other players and we never saw him again.

Quina was trusted by Ivic early on and he kept giving him chances despite some really quite awful performances. He then had a couple of better performances, including the one where he scored but then reverted to type. Was looking at impact sub at the best for the rest of the season.

But it was just two days ago that we were told he was out for a few more weeks and now all of a sudden he might be moving to another team? Are they going to sign him injured or us this yet another example of the club saying one thing but the opposite being true?
