Get the impression that he's one of those forwards that contributes a lot to the overall play and will score some spectacular goals but will never really be prolific. Hope he proves me wrong, then this time next year we can sell him for under market value!
Cucho I have a lot of hope will play for us compared to the others. He signed a new deal last year and has publicly stated he wants to play for us, unlike Suarez and Estupinan. If the work permit was resolved he would be playing currently for us. My concern is the buy option that was very quickly redacted from the official loan statement Watford's end.
Odd article here: http://sportwitness.co.uk/would-lik...ee-wants-to-have-stability-and-not-move-much/ Watford said last summer he’d signed a new ‘long term deal’ to stay at the club, yet here the article says his contract is up next summer and it seems the interviewer asked him what his plans were and he accepted the premise of the question. Not sure if it’s just a misunderstanding, poor translation or what...
He's a good player. I've seen him play a lot of times and he comes across as a "good egg". Totally different attitude to Suarez and Estupinan. He wants to play for Watford, that seems clear. He's good enough in terms of quality (imo). I hope he plays for us from January. It all depends on the work permit situation of course, but he'll be a welcome addition if it all falls into place.
He must be a lost cause for a work permit so presumably the hope is he gets a Spanish passport sometime soon.
He did sign a new contract in August 2019, so I doubt it would have been only for 2 years. Although I cannot find anything to say how long the deal was, I would assume it would have been at least a 4-year deal taking him to July 2023. I think the piece you referred to probably did their research on TransferMarket which states 2021 for contract expiry.
The club described it as ‘long term’ so yeah, I can’t see it being a 2 year deal either. Just a bit surprised if the Colombian journalist asked Cucho about his contract being up next summer he didn’t reply by saying it isn’t. But then he wouldn’t be the first pro footballer to not have much of a clue about the paperwork side of their career.
I've got his contract down to end in June 2024. The article below from when Cucho went on loan to Mallorca has a link to the official site which is showing as a '404 not found' error for me now. There is also a tweet from the club saying he's signed a new deal from August 26, 2019. As I've recorded his contract length, I presume that's what was said when the link to the site was working. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/08/27/watford-fans-on-cucho-hernandez-new-deal-mallorca-loan/
That's when it says his contract at Getafe is up, not the contract at Watford. It doesn't list when his contract at Watford is up.
And it wasn't from there I got June 2024 as the end of his contract was it! There are articles from The Athletic where he's mentioned in the Google summary but I'm too tight to sign up. Maybe his contract was detailed - and by detailed I mean guessed at - in one of those because I can't find it anywhere otherwise.
Couldn't see anything substantial when I searched his name within the site and the relevant articles.
http://sportwitness.co.uk/would-lik...ee-wants-to-have-stability-and-not-move-much/ Speak of the devil, just saw this. Is this the article in question? @The Recluse
I guess it would be around the time he joined Mallorca - August last year - as that's when the official site announced his long term deal. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-new-contract-loan-move-for-cucho
That's from today and the one UEA posted earlier, bringing up the question of the length of his contract.
Beginning to look like another potential super star that will never play for us, but on this occasion it looks like the Home Office that is the problem and not WFC.
Interesting match today. Getafe vs Granada. Cucho and Nyom vs Suarez (making his first start) and Foulquier.
Will never play for us but hope he continues to do well so we get a decent fee to use to strengthen when that day comes.
Or a decent fee for us to still absolutely not strengthen at all, even in areas where we don't have a single option...
https://streamable.com/qpdlkc Puts Getafe 1-0 ahead with a great goal. Could do with a bit of this in January. Although that's probably unlikely.
It not at all unlikely that part of the reason that we just hired the Spanish bloke is to help try and convince Cucho to play here.
Ivic said in his last press conference that the club were considering whether it would be possible to bring back in January any players who were out on loan. It does still seem unlikely, but maybe one of the reasons we went with a Spanish speaking manager is to help with getting Cucho in? He's certainly the kind of player we could do with more of right now if we're to ease our creativity crisis and ponderous play.
Will even get a picture of him holding the shirt up and squad number on official site, only to join on the Friday of transfer deadline week and be told about it in March
According to The Athletic there is no recall option on Cucho. I’m sure this contradicts what they said in the summer though, or maybe it was the club themselves who posted there was a recall option in January, but apparently that’s not the case.
Good news. Avoids the pics of him in watford shirt and interviews before he refuses to play and is sold to a mid La Liga team for peanuts on 29th Jan.
https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-seven-departures-confirmed Was described as an "optional break clause" which I think most assumed was a recall clause. Maybe it was one of those deals where if he wasn't playing enough we could cancel the loan but that's no longer an issue as he's getting good game time? Either way, if the Athletic is to be believed, puts paid to the pie in the sky notion that he'd come here in January.
Yes, I think you're right. It probably means if Getafe weren't happy with him, or he wasn't getting the required playing time he could be recalled. Personally I'm very disappointed to read this, as he would have been our best striker in the second half of the season by a country mile. It's unlikely we'll invest in another striker (unless we can find someone on loan), as Cucho is on the books and will probably be part of things next season. Murray will go for sure, so we'll have to make do with Deeney, Gray, Perica and Success. All are none scoring central strikers though, so this will have an impact on our promotion chances for sure.
Or it was a barefaced lie. Which is way more likely with this mob. Surprised Leventhal didn't get the memo though as his article today was surely written whilst up the **** of the club.
Two more years left on Cucho’s deal according to the player himself who says ‘anything can happen...’
