Easy now, cowboy. Don’t like it, don’t open the thread. If it really does bother you, and because I’m an all round top bloke, I’ll stop posting his goals once Bayo manages to score a league goal.
Personally I like seeing his goals. It's a lot more interesting than seeing our cloggers missing 1 v 1's every week.
I don't understand the constant need to look at an ex player who basically played for one season and jumped ship as soon as he could
Yep, you’re right. It’s a constant need. Hardly a waking minute goes by without a Cucho highlight. Or, in the wake of both our new strikers missing piss-easy chances, seeing Cucho lash in a superb finish from a much harder position, felt quite relevant. Of all the things to get wound up about. Crikey.
Wound up? not sure about that, Do I find it strange that people still follow a chap who played with us for one season then goes to some some two bob league? Yes. Maybe it's because you are based in the US and he gets a lot of air time.
Well I’m annoyed, I clicked into this topic titled “Cucho Hernandez” expecting it to be about Turnips and it turns out it’s about Cucho Hernandez, what on earth is going on?
Apparently Andrew French said on the "Sunday Service" pod that Cucho didn't express a desire to leave and that the "Rule of 11" wasn't a factor.. Didn't hear this myself so not sure what reasons were given apart from the fact the club wanted some money.
It's not just the 8 in 8 figure, it's the quality of the finishing that's so impressive. These are not just tap ins. These are really sharp, quality finishes. But it's no surprise to me. Still cannot understand why we sold him so cheaply, but we will get money on a sell-on further down the line as I suspect a big club will go for him sooner or later.
It’s why you have to take everything the club says about our finances with a huge pinch of salt. Selling Cucho for £10m and then buying Bayo for £5m is utterly appalling business, but I suspect the club felt they had to take the first decent offer for a player that they got, without knowing what other sales were possible or might materialise later on down the line, which of course flies in the face of what Duxbury will have us all believe. If the finances were so rosy you would hold off such a sale until nearer the end of the window.
Sorry, but I think that you are mistaken, reids. Cucho Hernandez has scored 8 goals in 8 games. There are only two games when he did not score for Columbus Crew and he has twice scored two goals in a game. Wikipedia shows that he has scored 8 goals in 8 games, but Soccerway shows 8 goals in 9 appearances. Soccerway is either including Colombia's friendly game against Saudi Arabia (which is on their list of his recent appearances) or the game between Charlotte FC and Columbus Crew (which was abandoned at 0-0 after 16 minutes due to inclement weather and is not shown on Soccerway's list of played games for Columbus Crew). That game has now been rescheduled for 5th October when it will be continued from the 16th minute onwards.
I know that it is ‘water under the bridge’, Knight GT, but I think that some people are frustrated because the club needs a striker who can regularly score goals in the Championship. Will Bayo or Manaj do that? Cucho Hernandez scored two more goals against Atlanta United on Sunday and was included in the MLS team of the week. He has now scored 8 goals (including some very well-taken ones) in 8 games for Columbus Crew. He has scored using both feet and two goals with his head. I think that it was Reids who wrote on this forum that the majority of MLS clubs are comparable to Championship level and the rest are equivalent in standard to the top half of League One. Andrew French mentioned on Sunday, when he chatted on 'Uncle Ron and Ed's Sunday Service', that Cucho Hernandez would have been happy to stay and would have been fully committed while he was here, but he was in the last two years of his contract and he had made it clear that he would be looking for a move in the future. A desire to be closer to closer to Colombia and 'the rule of 11' did not appear to be major factors. It was pointed out by others on the programme that Columbus does not even have an international airport and there is only a very small Hispanic community there. Cucho was offered a large increase in salary by Columbus Crew, but I wonder whether he might have changed his mind (about looking for a move elsewhere) if he had been given the opportunity to play regularly under Rob Edwards and he had been offered a new, improved contract. Andrew French suggested that the reason for the sale of Cucho Hernandez was because it was the beginning of the transfer window when the club received what they considered to be a good offer and they needed the money because of the lack of income during the close season. He mentioned that Watford did not receive £10 million (as in some reports) but just over £8 million for Cucho's transfer. Andrew explained that a buying club often inflates the price to impress their supporters whereas the selling club often does not disclose the price. I expressed my disappointment when Cucho was sold and subsequent events have confirmed in my mind that it was a poor decision by the club. It is a pity that Rob Edwards was never given the opportunity to work with Hernandez, who could have played as one of the two strikers in his favoured 5-3-2 formation.
How odd, you're correct - 8 in 8. Looks as if they're including the game against Charlotte as a full appearance.
Loads of good Cucho content this week, people. Let’s keep this momentum going before the thread police show up, again.
Does anyone know how many he's scored since the club decided to cash in and leave us with Bayo and Manaj who can't even kick a ball at the goal?
