Roy Moore and Adam Leventhal are probably each other’s source on this one. I expect to see photos of Capoue arriving at Valencia airport later this afternoon or tomorrow.
Keeping Capoue would be a real bonus as I've been resigned to him leaving for weeks. With Hughes to come back in too that midfield suddenly looks like it has incredible depth.
Great great news. If anyone knows what the thoughts of our players are it's Roy Moore. I mean, he's deleted his tweet now but it doesn't make it any less true.
Question is will Capoue be motivated to play if he does stay? Let's hope so as he'd be very very good in this league.
I would hope being paid xxx grand a week is suffiecient motivation for any athlete to do their job, however this is football so I'm probably being naive.
My worry would be that his lack of Champo experience might be an issue like it was with Estupinan. Hopefully he can bridge this gap.
So we’ll either have arguably our best player available for selection in a league that he is way too good for or we will get a fee for a 32 year old who dont wanna be here m8 that we can use to sign Barry Douglas. Either way I will be tweeting unequivocal, fawning praise to the club in the form of either Ben Foster cycling or a photoshopped image of Gino as the Wolf of Wall Street
If he stays, it will be great and Gino will deserve high praise (for not finding a buyer). If he goes, it will be because Ivic didn't think he was committed enough. I'd rather have a willing Chalobah and Quinoa than a reluctant Capoue, trying to score own goals.
Deals like what? Shoving good players out the door for rock bottom prices? That window never closes for Gino.
I think Capoue is professional enough to knuckle down and do his best for WFC if he does not get a move away. However if he isn't, as some of you think he might not be, he would be foolish to down tools and under perform as he should want to put himself in the shop window to get a move away in January if he still wants to move by then of course.
Only in Russia. They are all ******* nutters. Beer is a soft drink and household cleaning products are best served chilled over ice
So he refused to play and then asked to leave. Has been paid a fortune to sit on his ass and not give a damn about us. But now he has had a change of heart? Obviously Valencia cannot afford him and his agent has told him there are no other takers. It'd be much better if he just f****d off. I don't want him in our team and which of the 3 midfield positions will he take? Cleverley is the captain,Hughes is a first choice while NC,TDB,DQ and JG all need to play and have shown that they want to play. Sorry EC but there is no space for you so do one.
I'm not totally sure Capoue actually refused to play! Yes he did put in a transfer request which is why I think you will find it was Vlad who did not want to play him, not that Capoue actually REFUSED to play. However, I believe he has now apparently said he want's to play for the team, which I suppose means he has withdrawn his transfer request, though I do not know this for certain. However, if what I have said is now the case and he has indeed withdrawn his transfer request, then I will welcome back into the fold with open arms, as I think will Vlad as well.
I mean, he shouldn't necessarily be allowed to just stroll back into the team, but if he doesn't get the move away, leaving him on the bench out of spite isn't going to do anyone any good. Give him a chance, he could absolutely piss all over the Championship
If he is willing to play for us again, he absolutely has a place in the team. Capoue is streets ahead of Chalobah, the most like for like replacement in the team, on paper it should be Capoue and Hughes with Quina or TDB (whenever he's fit again) ahead of them
Based on what has been confirmed, it doesn't seem that's the case. He asked for a transfer, but didn't refuse to play. Vlad only wants players who want to be here, so chose not to play him. I suspect Capoue probably would have played if picked, but we'll likely never know for sure.
Not sure I understand this blind love for Capoue. He doesn’t want to be with us, put in a transfer request. Anyone that stays needs to be 100% committed.
Oh come on he has been collecting his money but not playing and has asked for a transfer. He hasn't made himself available to play(like he is apparently about to do so knew what he had to do if he wanted to play)but hasn't trained with the team or made any matchday squads. We can play semantics but other players who wanted to leave in the past and refused to play were given a hell of a time by the fans(Williamson etc)so why should this guy be given a break? I'm fed up with players like him and certainly won't be cheering him ever again. He made his bed.......
For me it's what happens next that'll decide how I feel about him. He has a lot of credit in the bank after 5 reasonably good PL seasons, including one as player of the season and his time as vice captain. And it's increasingly obvious Ivic is running the show and deciding who trains with the main group or not. If a move doesn't materialise for Capoue today - unless there are PL clubs in the picture too - then the club needs to confirm whether he's sticking with his transfer request or not. If he's prepared to hold out an olive branch we should take it. He'd be a class above everything in this league in his position.
I'm equally fed up with the players like Deeney, Chalobah, Mariappa, Kabasele etc who might well care a lot about the club, but are lacking the ability for that to actually mean anything. If I was Capoue I'd be fed up with the club as well - this relegation was the result of years of negligence and the failure to recruit in areas we knew full well were an issue. We were relegated in spite of Capoue's performances, not because of them. In an ideal world we would get rid and replace him with a talented player who loves the club, but the reality is that he could come and play at 50% and still be on a total different level to Chalobah.
