Then he shouldn't be being paraded around as if he is already a Granada player? Is that not obvious? If he's not yet officially their player then him wearing their gear, getting off their team bus as part of the squad and being displayed as if he were any other player in their team is absolutely ridiculous.

So either he is officially their player and it's terrible communication yet again, or he's not and it's genuinely one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen in football, and I have no idea why either club would think it's OK.

 

No. I think the club should have told the player and buying club to lie low until the deal is announced. It’s not a lot to expect is it? He didn’t have to fly to Sweden, what’s one more night in a Granada hotel with his GF? If people want to find him there, they will. We can’t stop that as the Spanish media have shown. But if a deal hasn’t been announced, then he shouldn’t be in their club attire, on the pitch etc. That’s my opinion. And it is literally what happens in just about every transfer so it’s not hard to do.

 

Yeah I guess it isn't really on Watford if we have allowed him over there to complete the transfer.

Not going to pretend it really bothers me, but it isn't really on by either Granada or Suarez - as Burnsy said we'd be rightly a bit pissed off if it was a more important player of ours.

Would quite like us to pull out of the deal and make them both look stupid.

 

Just shows basic competence as a club in my view. I don’t care because I know we aren’t competent. As you say it is clear he is gone.

 

In fairness, if the deal really isn't finalised, we shouldn't have to tell them not to.

 

Personally I’m not worked up. I just think it’s bizarre a player is wearing another team tracksuit and celebrating their victory with no club announcement. It’s a situation I can’t remember seeing before (correct me if wrong) and just makes us look clueless. No shock there.

As others have said there are much bigger things to worry about, so whatever really. It’s the management standard I have come to expect.

I doubt it would have changed much. But I also doubt it helped to endear ourselves to him also, even if we were fully in the right.

 

Question: have you ever seen this before ever? I might be wrong but I can’t remember players who haven’t been confirmed as sold striding off team buses in full new club togs.

I agree it doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things but do you honestly not think it is strange at all? I know it’s easier to have a dig at Nath, Burnsy and myself but the situation is genuinely not odd and worthy of comment?

You are misquoting. I said it’s a another illustration of the shambolic way the club is run. Which is fair comment. I didn’t say the incident itself if shambolic as it’s pretty irrelevant. It’s just yet another episode that shows our general incompetence in my view but I’m not going to get worked up over it.

Pozzo’s overall ownership I do get worked up about however.

I honestly think people get wound up about the strangest things . Suarez is gone, we all know he’s gone. I’m not waiting for an announcement of something I already know.

My philosophy is just to move on and think about the players who are going to be wearing a Watford shirt , rather than ruminating about something that is if no importance . I realise that people have different ways of dealing with things, but just don’t get Ut . Maybe this is the distinction. between a happy clapper and a bed wetter .

if both clubs have not announced it then there may still be a reason for this that we are unaware of, this in itself is not unusual. It would be odd if Granada announced it significantly before we did but that doesn’t seem the case.

If the transfer is not yet complete is it the Pozzos fault that Granada have taken Suarez to Sweden? Is it possible Granada have taken a step out of line here and not us? Or do we think Gino asked them to specifically make Suarez wear a Granada kit before the deal is formalised in order to make himself look a **** and further wind up some anonymous persons on an online forum?

Given the unknowns I’m not convinced it is another illustration of anything yet, other than perhaps jumping on something that may, or may not, fit a preconceived narrative.

I think there is also a distinction between those who have an interest in our loanees and those who don't:

If you weren't really following him last year, and this is potentially 15m profit for a player you have never really heard of and doesn't want to play for us, it seems great business by the Pozzos

If you were following him last year and were excited about what a really promising young player could bring to the squad this year, it is very disappointing to lose him for what seems a relatively small amount and it is further salt in the wounds after relegation (as we would likely have kept him had we stayed up) and can be seen as a further instance of bad management by the Pozzos

 

One of our players is swanning around playing for Marseille at the moment. Quite funny how much teams are taking the piss out of us now.

 

It’s quite possible the owners have absolutely no idea some of our fans care so deeply about a player who has never played for us, doesn’t want to play for us and has spent only a few days even in the country.

He’s hardly Deeney is he.

He’s a decent signing for for Grenada, so logic dictates they’d want to make a bit of a fan fair over signing him and at least announce it to their fans. They haven’t, yet we as the selling club of a player who has never played for should have announced something that clearly hasn’t even ‘officially’ happened?

There are many things to get annoyed about, but if this is one of them you need to get out a lot more.

Not one person had claimed to be upset that Watford haven’t announced it yet. But perhaps some fans care and support the club - so much so that they feel seeing one of their players get off a team-bus and celebrating on pitch for another team undermines us a bit as a club at a time when we should be trying to rebuild our reputation. It’s bizarre that we have allowed it, that’s all. But I don’t think any of are surprised anymore as @Jumbolina says. It’s not a huge faux pas - but like the social media posts regarding Suarez and Estupinan, it’s another misstep.

I understand that some fans aren’t bothered by this. That’s fair enough and I’m not telling you you’re wrong. But I don’t like seeing my club being treated a bit like mugs through their own incompetence. I really don’t think it was too much to ask to insist Granada kept him back in Spain for another evening.

The more positive fans love to take a negative comment from someone on here and blow it up as ‘people getting so upset’.

So the club are supposed to tell an outgoing player/buying club not to do xyz before any official announcement? You can sign for Grenada but we don’t want to see you getting off their team bus? What would be the consequence of him then doing it? We don’t sell him?

Why would they care? He never played for us, he’s gone, and clearly imminently signing for another club, I just don’t see why they’d give a toss.

I think it’s a bit odd too. I’m not sure I feel any stronger than that and I really can’t see it affects the reputation of the club. I’m sure it’ll be announced when the deal is complete. I’m not sure Watford really have much meaningful leverage to stop him pretending to be a Granada player in the meantime even if they wanted to. Both player and buying club could ignore it and, presumably, we’d still complete the deal.

 

It's a little bizarre, but we had Sierralta literally playing in a pre-season game for us while being owned by another club! Yes it was Udinese but still. If you're even remotely bothered by this then you need to get out more.
