Background info I spent 4 happy and mildly inebriated years as a student in Reading. There’s some damn fine pubs, some mediocre ones and a couple of absolute holes, many of which I spent some time asleep in the corner of. Reading remains the only place where I have been offered a bag of cabbages in exchange for a 99p pint of John Smiths. I am aware this might well date my student hood. Celebrities I've met in Reading - Betty Boo who opened up the now closed Virgin Megastore and David Coulthard, who at the time was a Williams test driver. Of course given the current climate my local knowledge is completely and utterly useless to everyone so why did you bother reading (pun intended) this? Run up We come into the game on a high. Unbeaten in the league both in matches and across the line. Somewhat surprising considering the performances. Reading have however won all three in the league but narrowly lost to them up the road in the Caramac cup. This is a must win game, which may put us in the promotion slots. One to watch Lewis Gibson, on loan from the Toffee munchers. Has England under 20 experience. Possible Line up? Who can tell? we've cut some dead-weight, we'll probably sign some more dead-weight in replacement. Today's match review was sponsored by the mighty Hob Nob Derby are playing Norwich m8. They also play in yellow, understand where the confusion lies.

Sometimes I still fantasise about the ball falling to Almen Abdi on the edge of the box and him routinely slotting it past the keeper to put us 1-0 up even though we were down to 10 men. That was a great moment.
Decent listen that and interesting that two of them predicted a draw and one a win for us, despite their start. They got a few things wrong about us and I thought 'typical opposition fan podcast that knows nothing about us' then remembered that I can't even name a Reading player these days so they're doing better than me.

Gutted there are no crowds as this would be a certain away day for me. Pre-Covid I was in Reading for work everyday, my office is next to the station. The town is ok, and as Meister has alluded to, there are a number of decent watering holes. Many a drunken night out has been had in the town centre. Still also gutted it has been 12 years and counting since there has been a speedway team in Reading though...Smallmead demolished and left vacant, scandalous.
Worked there for EY for 10+ years and used to go to the odd game in the wooden boxes at Elm Park (which would have taken 12 minutes to burn to the ground had someone dropped a cigarette butt). Great start points wise. Essential we keep the positivity and confidence high. Must win game. R2 (Senior, McAnuff) WFC 1 (Gunnarsson)
My local game as well as I'm only about 20 mins away. Still don't like the ground though. Some excellent pubs in Reading if you get off the beaten path. Purple Turtle though is worse than The Red Lion!
Another easy win that will take us top of the league, e-i-e-i-e-i o up the football league we go! Reading 0-4 Watford. All aboard HMS Piss The League
A friend is a Reading fan, his reaction when I asked him about the start was 'Nice surprise, not sure where it has come from tbh! I think it's mostly because the teams we've played have been useless as much as we've been good though'
They are just about the most forgettable team in the division. I only know that they have players called Pele and Puscas playing for them. Their scouting approach seems to be limited to targeting knock-off versions of former greats, as they have had promising young Atletico winger Riquelme training with them for the last few weeks ahead of signing. Unfortunately, they were not familiar with how Bournemouth operate, and have now found themselves 'gazumped' and he is is set to sign for the Cherries. https://twitter.com/kristemple/status/1310907739246387203
I'm still mixed with confusion and anger that we are being forced to play these pub teams I've never heard of but we just have to make the best of it. Prediction Redding (sp?) 0-8 Watford Sarr (23, 29, 42, 61, 70, 81, 90+1, 90+5)
