Buy Suarez, then loan him to Watford, that would pi$$ on his strawberries wouldn't it?

Bit bizarre that Granada have made giant strides forward in the last couple of seasons and now the owner chooses to bail. He must have serious financial problems you’d think?!

You would presume. It can’t be a good time to sell a football club.

Or own one. They're generally money losers at the best of times!

I cant remember a player I've hated more than this ****. Sad thing is I'd never be able to say that to his face, because I've no idea what it looks like.

The Athletic did a very good piece on this. Basically, the whole reason Chinese investors came into European football years ago (and the reason why they're now leaving) is all because of the Chinese Communist Party, or CCP for short.

The CCP have their fingers in every single financial pie that involves large sums of money, both in and outside of China. If they tell these companies to stop investing in European football, the investors have no choice but to pull out and look for a sale.

As for Granada, I highly doubt that Lizhang is looking to sell due to his own financial situation, though if I were a Granada fan I'd be worried he didn't manage to sell the club soon. After all, who wants to hear that the owner of their football club has withdrawn his support?

I've no doubt there have been some shady dealings going on and I am the last person you would find supporting the CCP, but there is no doubt that they have a great deal of power, even amongst China's wealthy elite.

How long have you been contributing to forums now, 20 years maybe going back to Clubcall days? And still you don't think its up to you to provide any evidence for what you write, resent the very idea no less. :)

Good point. Guess it's hard for them to pull out now they've become so invested in the club.

That’s a shame this has all blown up as he’s a lovely fella. Always the first to get his round in. He does shyteloads for charity, but doesn’t like to draw attention to it.

Reports now saying 15 mil permanent deal. Interestingly I’ve heard from a couple of people this was Vlad’s choice not the owners, which makes me much more happy to accept it. We have to get a goalscorer in though.

Joining Granada for 15m euros according to a Granada journo. I'd have liked to keep him but if we can secure our long term future by selling 2 players who have never played for us and seemingly didn't want to (Suarez and Estupinan) as well as another 3 that don't want to play in the second division (Doucoure, Pereyra and Capoue) then it's probably the right thing to do. Especially if it means we can keep quality players who do want to be here like Sarr, Hughes, Sema and Pedro.

Do think we'll need goals from midfield this season though as I don't think there's a 20-goal a season striker at the club, not that Suarez was guaranteed that anyway.

I think Suarez has the ingredients to be a decent player at the top level but there's been hundreds of players in the same boat who haven't been able to make the step up so you never know. I do hope we've managed to get a sell-on or a buy-back clause in the deal to cover ourselves though.

Not happy with only €15m. Should be at least €20m minimum. If there is a significant sell on then that would make it less bitter but unlike Estupinan I can't see a way to justify it based on his ability.

However, if Ivic pushed for this so we can assemble a better team spirit and keep a harmonious squad then I suppose that's acceptable. It's clear he didn't want to stay and his agent has been trying to secure this against our wishes which doesn't help.

Absolutely need another striker. Vydra anyone?

Only €15m, so yet another throwaway price.

Try signing Doucoure, Estupinan and Suarez for around £47m now. No chance do you sign that quality for that little. Can't believe how the club have allowed themselves to be so mugged off.

Doucoure and Estupinan I can justify and defend the club for those circumstances. Doucoure has been after that move for years and declined other clubs which weakened our stance who bidded more. Estupinan was 1 year left and didn't want to stay. In this current climate better to cash in.

Suarez for only €15m I cannot. That is a terrible deal.

I still don't think it is pretty piss poor business given what Nunez went for but it is better than a 3m loan fee.

I can see that it makes sense to an extent as we have already lots of strikers, but the issue is that most of them are absolutely ******* ****.

This can't just be a case of balancing the books - some of this money absolutely has to go to strengthening the squad.

Time will tell, again though in the current climate it depends if most of the fee is upfront, or installments - I suspect most of this will be upfront cash.

I would wager this would be like Estupinan with it all up front. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sell on fee percentage.

But is it? Maybe they're learning a late lesson from Penaranda and Success.

Can't see all the report but it very much suggests that it won't be upfront and the fee could reach €15m.

Disappointing price, but I think I prefer this to another loan. We at least get some cash, which should help keep a player

But do we really have a lot of strikers? Both Deeney and Welbeck could be going, and Murray has shown he's not up to it anymore. That could potentially leave us with Gray and Percia, with Sarr and Pedro as fill in strikers possibly.....and even then Sarr could well be sold.

Just cant understand why they would settle for €15m for a player of his potential. I suppose we do still have the possibility of getting Cucho, but how likely is his work permit?

It would be very difficult as they're all on nice long contracts at clubs they want to be at. Unlike the situation when they were with us.

You got the wrong end of the stick.

I meant they should do sold them on to LA Liga teams when they had a chance, They'd snap someone's arm off if they bid anywhere near that for those clowns.

You are preaching to the choir here mate.

My point is we have - Pedro, Gray, Deeney, Murray, Perica, Success (maybe also include Sarr and Penaranda). That is an awful lot of strikers.

The issue is that with the exception of Gray, Pedro and Sarr (and maybe Perica?) the others are absolutely ******* dross.

Agree. If Vlad didn't want him, then better to cash in - Reserving judgement on these dealings until the window "slams shut". If this 15m means we keep Sarr, who know's might allow Wellbeck to play, and keep a few others like Hughes for this season (Geri D until Jan?), then it's very good business if we go up. It's a tricky market to sell in.

Disappointing. If true that it’s Ivic’s choice, you’d have to think there’s huge question marks over Suarez’s desire to be here or apply himself - because it can’t be a question of talent.

Again I think the club are doing it cheaply but I’m getting a bit beyond being annoyed now - just want these outgoings dealt with sooner rather than later so we can settle and look ahead. If selling him means Sarr/Deulofeu stay - then so be it.

The financial gap is close to being done now?

Other teams presumably look at the personality of players before they sign them, whereas we seem to exclusively target players with attitude problems.

Interesting that at the same time as cashing in on Suarez and Estupinan, we've also quietly binned off some of the other young loanees so looks like we've entirely abandoned "the model". Last season we had lots of young foreign players out on loan, this year it'll hardly be any and we don't appear to signing anymore to replace them. These sales and that of Cucho (whenever it happens) are probably the last of the gems picked up for nothing.

Will be interested to see if we find out any more about a confirmed price or structure of the deal.

Disappointed as he could've been exciting. I get he's unproven in the league.

Were we to keep Sarr and buy an LB and a CM, ideally like Grimes who knows the Division, I'd not be worried about his departure.

At least the squad is beginning to take some sort of shape, for better I hope.

    Who's next out?
