It doesn't really matter whether they've made good decisions or bad, they are the only owners who were ever going to elevate us to this level and build the club and off the field. At their operating level of finance that was always going to look chaotic at times - you only have to take a peek at all the other clubs who have operated at similar levels now in the doldrums of the Championship. They've gone from apparent complacency to panic this year and if better owners come along, then fine. But as it stands they are not worth the trouble of kicking out. It would most likely just get worse.
For: they aren't Baz. Against: they treat fans, staff, in fact nearly everyone that isn't an ageing, mediocre defender, or has been striker, with utter contempt. They've turned out club into a bastion of hateful, arrogant hubris, where cowardly footballers ply their miserable trade without any fear of reprisals
What do you think the norm is for a town of our size? Whether you like them or not, despise their model or think they hold fans in contempt I don’t see how you can argue that they have exceeded normal expectations in terms of what they have achieved for the club. Irrespective of Baz, what do you expect for our club?
I'm pretty sure I've made myself clear over about 1000 posts on the subject. If you're happy with the way our club is run, that's up to you. I detest it. I detest what they've turned our club into, I despise our team, I loathe the way they do business, I hate the toxic culture they cultivate and I lament their ongoing presence at our club. I'd take mid table Championship with a genuine, Watford focussed owner. Who cared about our team, our club and our fans. Who did their best for all three of those and wasn't some wanna be machiavellian crusader, trying to prove that their unique way of doing things was cleverer than everyone else, despite constant proof to the contrary.
Nail on head there, a scarily large number on here are cucks. Absolutely. Any owner should be held to account, the pozzos are NO different. They are making mistake after mistake and must be called out on them. The most recent are sullying the name of the club. The whole thing is a shambles from top to bottom. Pozzo shows no signs of changing or learning from the many many mistakes. This should be a sign of concern and impending danger.
I'm a big defender of the Pozzo's, but for me the biggest problem is communication from the club. It's appalling. Sometimes keeping quiet is the best policy, but it doesn't fit every occasion. When was the last 'At your place'? Do we only have them when we're having a good season? When was the last interview given by Duxbury? When was the last time Gino spoke? They should not hide like this. The news of Pearson's dismissal was hours ago, yet still nothing on the official site. No mention about the Gueye signing that we made, but didn't. It doesn't read well. There have been a lot of strange things gone on this season. Sacking Gracia was probably fair enough, but then appointing Flores?? Why......who's idea was that? Pearson I thought was a perfect tonic to Flores, and it did work......but then we sack him when he's only got a week left on his contract. I will always stand up for the owner, but there are things that are not sitting well right now and the club have to stop hiding and let fans know what the hell is going on.
Its contempt. They know that they can take a big **** on the club and fans will queue up to lick them clean. Why should they try to keep the fans happy? Our fans are happy with a turd in a bowl.
Funny how I don't have any privileged information but can point to half a dozen terrible decisions this past season alone.
You have made your views clear about the Pozzos yes, but I’m still not clear what alternative your are proposing. How many times have we had a genuine Watford focussed owner since Elton John? Where do you see your genuine owner coming from? The likely alternative is we would get some other ****s who were running the club for their own reasons rather than for the love of the fans. Look at the owners of other clubs they’re not exactly a nice bunch. I’d rather the Pozzos than Ambramovitch, a genuine fan like Mike Ashley, or oil rich states that endorse assassination and repression or Steve Bloody Parrish. You say “despite constant proof to the contrary” but whether you like them or their model or not the truth is that they have succeeded at Watford. I respect your perspective but imo it is not based on proof or facts but on emotions which is understandable as supporters have an emotional vested interest in the club.
But you said that all their decisions are 'sound'. Are you now conceding they also make bad decisions?
I enjoyed being a fan for all of the preceding 25 years before the Pozzos came. I've hated it the last 3-4 years. They've finally killed my enthusiasm for the club. I don't think I'm unique either. You can look to their smart, sharp dealings as positives, I find them largely reprehensible.
I can't think of any reason why an 'At Your Place' hasn't been held in the last 3 or 4 months. Just having a look at the news, local, national & worldwide.. nope, no reason. That being said, Duxbury has been far less vocal this season which, because of the pandemic, you'd think may have been a good reason to be more visible to the supporters. Gino never speaks so hoping for that is pointless. Duxbury is his mouthpiece and that's where criticism should be placed for a lack of communication.
Don’t think I said this . Of course they’ve made bad decisions, just like our other owners , I fully concede that
That was forward planning, to not have any engagements before the shutdown.......just in case I suppose. Good job no one has invented Zoom yet.
Fair enough your entitled to your opinion. However, to clarify I’m not saying that I consider their sharp smart dealings as positives, I’m saying I consider the things that the club has achieved on and off the field are positives as well as some of the experiences I’ve had at games. There’s a difference. Whatever the future holds I hope your enthusiasm can rise like a phoenix from the ashes at some future point.
Maybe they were a bit preoccupied in helping the hospital next door with what they were doing on a day to day basis and being involved with trying to work out when football could actually be restarted to worry about setting up video calls with us lot. There's plenty to criticise but not having a fans forum during the pandemic isn't one of them HB1.
I think its as much to do with the PL than something unique to Watford. Owners are wealthy, remote, have little connection to their clubs, are used to having their own way and have little patience with failure. Players are mostly arrogant money grabbing *****.
You are making some good points, but as for this last bit, no you wouldn’t. You’d start the ‘Watford focussed owner out!’ thread after about eight weeks of mid-table shytehousery.
I've no idea - either how long this virus has been going around or when the last At (Y)Our Place actually was. I've tried a quick search but can't find anything.
