Why are people responding to @RookeryLad ? It’s beyond obvious that he has more than one login and is saying stuff for effect. I’d suggest ignoring his posts and he’ll quickly end up in an echo chamber. All other dissenters offer valuable thinking, even Nath! But this RL guy has suddenly become very active in the past 24hrs, so ask yourself why!! They will quickly disappear when people don’t engage.
I have one login, can mods confirm that from my location there is only one poster and prove the clown above wrong.
Take this you fool.a quick google search....not wrong. You are though. Fool. The plural form "smilies" is commonly used,[4] but the variant spelling "smilie" is not as common as the "y" spelling.[5]
It's 'emoji' these days isn't it? Pretty sure the last time 'smiley' was used, it was still called the Premiership.
This would be sound advice except for the fact that there seem to be a few clowns who actually like its posts!
I haven't read every page but I assume the standard business of somebody mentioning the Yeovil game and once being close to administration has been covered off?
Its because I am not afraid to say what others are thinking quietly to themselves. It’s because I am not put off by being shouted down by the happy clappers, head nodders and Pozzo sympathisers. It’s because I am seriously concerned at the events unfolding at the club going unchecked and unanswered by those in charge. It’s because I see comments on here and other media from people saying they are ashamed of the events of the weekend more so than at anytime in the last 40 years. If that does not get people off their arses worried and demanding how this has happened then what the hell will. It’s this soft structure that let Baz run roughshod over the club. I say act now and question fully what the hell is happening at the club. It’s time for the owners and players to be fully accountable for this utter disgraceful mess. I for one will not stand by like a soft, sad sap and let it go unchecked. Up the ******* Watty.
How would you know 'what others are thinking quietly to themselves? By definition you can't. You're making it up.
If I have given the impression people should not post unless they have an alternative then I have posted badly. I accept people will criticise the ownership. But some of the criticism goes far beyond that. It is extreme. Fine - but if you have an extreme opinion - a radical one - then surely you want improvement. Anyone who has followed our club for any time will know we are NOT a Liverpool. The top six clubs will always find a buyer. How many people will invest in a small club with a limited fanbase in the catchment area of London clubs? What do you suppose would happen if the Pozzos came to the conclusion that they were no longer wanted so decided to sell. If they could get most of their money back and walk away we could end up with an owner no better resourced than them, who do not understand the concept of a family club etc etc. Are those people calling for the Pozzos to go caring about who replaces them? Suggesting the Pozzos have got it wrong and calling for changes is healthy. Suggesting what those changes are - a decent defence is obvious - is better. Suggesting they go with no clue what happens next is in my view questionable. As you say fans use forums to air criticisms - and part of that is giving your own opinion and criticising the opinions of other you consider wrong - isn't it? that is all I have done just as you have just criticised me (quite fairly I am sure).
Are we still a family club in the same we were 30 odd years ago? With the sponsorship choices that have been taken, I'd suggest that it's only a thing in the eyes of the supporters.
You're right. Cut ourselves free of the Pozzo's and we would float up to our rightful place near the top of the prem. The Granada result is proof if anybody needed it. We would have won 2-0 vs Citeh if someone else owned us - the proof is starring us in the face.
Perhaps - but as a supporter I like to think so and despite the anger on here at the Pozzos I do believe they have understood our club and tried to please the fans. They could easily have sold Vicarage Road and moved us to a faceless new stadium somewhere. They promised us a decent stadium and to try to get Premiership football. What they have not promised is that life in the Prem would be easy.
In fairness to the club, I think stuff like the sensory room and the stuff they do with the community trust would count toward the family club image. Granted, probably not like it was 30 years ago, but I think for the most part they does a decent job, even with some questionable sponsorship choices.
We need your dad back on here posting some sense and sending you to bed. What the hell has happened to RookeryDad ? No posts in 21 days and not seen on the forum since 8th.
Lets see what Pozzo does in January, heavy investment in the backline needed obviously. QSF has his work cut out now and Im hoping he and his team will start to weed out the players that dont care and stick them in the reserves, the only trouble with this is it seems that an awful lot of our first team dont care and the back ups just arent good enough. Not in the Pozzo out brigade yet but things need to change drastically in terms of player recruitment and especially what new players bring in mentality. Young hungry players are the way forward next season whatever division we are in.
Sadly on current form the Jan window will be championship preparations. Try and clear out a few at as high a value as we can get for them and rebuild. I hope I am wrong and we can pick up enough points to be within touching distance and then get a new defence in but it’s looking pretty grim.
We've had ample opportunity to strengthen the defence. According to the Athletic, we were offered Harry Maguire in 2017 but we decided to pursue other options!!. We had Nathan Ake before Bournemouth, we had Danny Rose at the training ground on the final day of this window, but the decision has always been to back away. It will be interesting in how we approach things in January, but it all depends on where we are in the league. If we are still in a hopeless position, then no one of any worth will be joining Watford. We will be in a desperate position and that in itself drives the price up because agents know we are needy.
Absolutely. Get in the ground early, check it out, bend over and grab hold of ones ankles, brace and endure 90 minutes of unrelenting rodgering. Up the Ornets
Someone has said it elsewhere - but what exactly is Giraldi’s role? If he heads up recruitment, why is he at every game? Why is he on the pitch at FT at every home game?
Do you remember when we had those directors that walked around the pitch before kick off, during the Vialli period, to milk the applause? Giraldi walking on the pitch at full time has the same feel to it.
Exactly. I just set can’t fathom why the head of recruitment needs to high-five or commiserate with the players at FT - or at any point. It leads me to think his role is muddled or he has more sway than he should at the club. I really think he needs to be sacked. I just don’t know what he does.
Feel it's slightly reactionary to blame Giraldi as the scapegoat. I would have thought he makes countless recommendations as part of his role to improve the squad & documented player case studies to the board covering all player positions, remember it's ultimately up to the board if they want to take action & spend the money on those recommendations he makes. Very much doubt he only recommends midfielders & strikers?! He has brought some good players to the team over the years, so some balance is required.
I think Neil Smiley even predated the Premiership. Maybe when he was at Brentford or Wycombe the new Superduper Premiership was being formed.
