Scored again today against Valencia. He won and converted the penalty, Deeney style. An unstoppable shot high to the keeper's right sending him the wrong way. Great finish and he played very well generally.
Get in.....well done Cucho. Just scored against RM https://twitter.com/i/status/1112428471236603911 A really nice finish. So confident. Our players tend to take a hesitant touch in those positions. No messing with Cucho. I really hope we can have him next season, as I'd think he'd thrive under Gracia.
Teenagers to score at Camp Nou & Bernabeu in the same season.... 1931 Iraragorri 1942 Adrover 1947 Badenes 2007 Ag*ero 2019 CUCHO
BBC stat: Juan Camilo Hernandez (19 years) is only the second teenager this century to score a La Liga goal at Camp Nou and Bernabeu after Sergio Aguero in 2006/7.
That's great but his team lost and are anchored to the bottom in the league. I'd rather his loser mentality didn't come and pollute our dressing room in the summer tbh.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48431483 Huesca confirmed a number of people have been detained by the police...
They were suggesting on Talksport that none of those arrested were actually involved in the matches alleged to have been fixed...
And directors - unless I heard wrong of course which is possible! One match seems to be from a couple of seasons ago when Huesca had been promoted and lost a game late in the season and again some at the back end of this season.
Ah Ok, I misread. I had taken the comment to mean that they weren't involved in "fixing" the matches rather than they weren't involved in "playing in" the matches, but you're right they must have meant the latter.
http://golombianos.com/sub-20-goleada-tahiti-paso-octavos/ Highlights from the game. Tidy hat-trick and wonderful freekick.
He should've scored 5 or 6 judging by highlights and I doubt Tahiti are better than any team in the top four divisions of English football. None of that will stop me wetting myself from excitment over his potential though.
I hope we get him next season. He's not the finished article, but I've seen him play quite a lot over the past couple of seasons and I would say he's technically better than any other striker we currently have at the club. He's quick, takes up good scoring positions and often get his shot on target.....and very importantly for us, he's not afraid to shoot. Even in this match, he's only really missed the goal once. All other shots were on target and were either saved by the keeper or went in. His stats weren't the greatest last season, but he did score against the big two. Huesca did struggle and were relegated, so with better players around him he should improve. Watford do have to make a decision with him though, as he's in the last 13 months of his contract. I hope we offer him a new deal, but if not, then he'll certainly be sold this summer. I've not heard a sniff of a rumour though, so the chances we'll offer him a new deal are hopefully good.
I've been watching his movement really closely over the last 2 games and I've been really impressed - when the ball is out wide he often makes a late run into the area but then stops by the penalty spot waiting for the cutback (like what City do for 90% of their goals) which has looked effective. Interestingly his stats for Huesca this season suggest either he's been massively unlucky or is a poor finisher (which would surprise me considering his goal return the previous season) - he ended up with 4 goals but according to xG should've had 10 goals. I'd say he's ready and to give him a new contract.
Ive always been impressed when I’ve seen him. Really good movement, poachers instinct, great technique, tough and stocky enough to play #9 in the PL but technical with it. Long term has to become the #9 to replace Deeney when it’s time.
He's more likely to be a Gray replacement. He plays a similar game to Gray, but is vastly superior technically. Gray beats him on experience and being match tough for the Premier League.
Ok, so xG says Cucho should've hit double figures last season whereas he actually only scored 4. This is a huge discrepancy as usually, xG is pretty spot on, so I decided to do some research (as I'm currently bored at work) to see whether it was Cuchos finishing that was off, or whether he was just horribly unlucky. I got his xG figures from here: https://understat.com/player/6954 which conveniently also lists the opponent and the time of the shot, which lets me easily find the shot and take a look at it, so here's the biggest xG chances that didn't end in a goal and an accompanying video (sorry about the poor quality) for you all to see (which equates to 3.11 xG) Eibar - 19/8/2019 - 12 mins - 0.36 xG - https://streamable.com/h62kd A really good chance from a one 1 on 1. Could he have done better? Quite possibly - although the keeper stood tall meaning the chip would've been hard and the keeper got his angles spot on to block the shot. Eibar - 19/8/2019 - 74 mins - 0.41 xG - https://streamable.com/694ea Did so well leading up to the shot, everything was done perfectly and reminds me of the sort of chance Deulofeu was smashing wide earlier on in the season until he found his rhythm. Real Vallecano 14/9/2018 - 83 mins - 0.42 xG - https://streamable.com/ewqoe Tricky one this, can't decide if it was a difficult ball or if he should've done better. Hitting it mid bounce like that sweet enough to get it on target is incredibly hard, perhaps he should've tried to hit it before the bounce, but again - that's difficult to do! Real Betis 5/1/2019 - 56 mins - 0.50 xG - https://streamable.com/2d4dm Wowzers, talk about unlucky. Positioning is spot on and the rebound comes straight at him, but an awkward height that catches him flat-footed. He does well to get it goalwards, but it flies inches wide of the post. Atletico Madrid 19/1/2019 - 15 mins - 0.51 xG - https://streamable.com/4zm7y Again he does absolutely everything right from the outset, but Oblak is an absolute beast of a goalkeeper (easily top 3 in the world for me right now) and gets a touch on it to send it wide. Confident if that was any other keeper in the league that would be in the net. Alaves 16/3/2019 - 61 mins - 0.43 xG - https://streamable.com/jvdig Once again - everything done superbly and a fantastic lob over the keeper....for it to hit the crossbar. Villarreal 28/4/2019 - 79 mins - 0.48 xG - https://streamable.com/6833v Superb run (and a great cross from whoever played that in) and anywhere else than right at the keeper and it's in Summary: He gets himself into fantastic positions but looks to have been horribly unlucky with a number of those chances. Also remember he was playing for an absolutely terrible team and still posted up over 10 xG - our strikers as a comparison: Deulofeu 10 goals from 8.33 xG Deeney 9 goals from 10.23 xG Gray 7 goals from 5.85 xG I'd fully expect next season (whether that's for us or not), he'll score for fun as xG often balances out given enough time. If we end up selling Deulofeu (although i'm not convinced we will) - it'll definitely be worth giving him a new contract and sticking him in with the first team.
Despite them being misses those clips make him look good as he showed skill in all of them and can’t be really blamed for any misses. What it doesn’t show us is what the rest of his game is like. Still, I want to believe, so I hope that we see him play for the one true team. Isn’t the Huesca ground quaint? Genuinely. Ps great research.
I wonder if we sign all these diminutive South Americans, how long Lawro/Crooks/generic BBC pundit will call us long ball despite having no one over the height of 5ft 6.
Yes but we will control our own borders after Brexit and won't be accepting any more Spaniards into the country.
Looks like Watford want him in the squad next season. Adam LeventhalVerified account @AdamLeventhal 2h2 hours ago Whilst I’m on #WatfordFC transfer updates - my overall view is CB & wide player are priority positions & with J Pedro & Cucho to come into squad in 2020 - no urgency on striker buys. Also, wouldn’t be surprised if all 3 of Doucoure/Deulofeu/Pereyra stay despite flurry of interest
