... Britos brings it forward and sees HOLEBAS making a run on the left towards the halfway line. Wondering what's going on? Start here: http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?59591-(1)-Heurelho-Gomes&p=1302642#post1302642
What would you have said if he didn't make that tackle and Knockeart went on to score/create a goal? I bet you'd call for Britos' head for the same reason, yet different scenario (if you get what I mean)... Not really his fault for being in that position. In fact, i'd put more blame on Marco for choosing Holebas for the Bristol game. Fate would ultimately end up with Jose being a mug who would get sent off in the one game we couldn't afford him to... These series of events (like a domino effect) would eventually result in Britos being in that exact position we all dreaded... Both feet off the ground, a metre in the air, studs showing and the sharpe stare of 2 beedy brown eyes looking directly right at the legs of a bell-end (K-heart) whos ankles were ready to be crunched ........WE AREN'T BLEEDIN BRITOS AIRWAYS MATE; We are a farkin football club!!! Never again do I want to see a challenge like that at the Vic, UNLESS you bloody well do a good job of snapping that cahunts leg in half. That sigh of disappointment when K-heart got up and walked off without a look of pain... Typical diving tossah! In all seriousness though, had Britos not been in that position, he wouldn't have been there to get sent off. In fact, he'd have probably been in the position of Kabasele (CB) where he would have likely put in a solid shift proved by the fact that last week he was dominant at the back, and the week before, he scored a bangin' header which secured us a very important singular point against the behemoths of Miseryside. Give him a break. We won't see him play in LB position ever again (thank God); but I wouldnt be annoyed to see him back in the future as a backup center back because he can be a decent player to have; especially when dealing with stocky forwards such as Lukaku who will no doubt shred a weaker CB like Kabasele to pieces (if he plays)
Of course he should, unless we sign a better CB and don't need him again. He should be embarrassed in himself for costing us 2 points today. There's no excuse for recklessly getting sent off like that today. Also, as much as I dislike Knockeart that could've been a horrible tackle if he connected properly. But why would we freeze him out? We took Deeney back from a 6 month prison sentence, but shouldn't play Britos after 1 stupid tackle?
The hypocrisy here with Britos' tackle because he got sent off compared to the adulation shown for Pudil's on O'Kane is breathtaking.
We lost to Bristol but at the time we all hoped for a win as we saw the league cup as the best chance of silverware. Therefore whilst in hindsight it was a poor decision playing holebas at the time it was the only decision to make. He's a professional and shouldn't have got himself sent off in the 88th minute. Same as Britos playing lb was the most sensible option and he alone let the fans and team down. Britos could have hauled down AK for a yellow (if people are going to say he had no choice but to foul) but he didn't need to fly in with both legs off the ground. It was a red even if he'd got the ball. Should he play again? Well yes if we can't sell him obviously. He's an idiot with a mistake waiting to happen every game now but if we get someone new in he'll still be adequate back up especially with Cathcart and YK injury prone. Wouldn't be sad if we sell him though, he was on the decline half way through last season.
We should look to replace him as soon as possible, but will probably need to use him the first half of this season. That's 3 or 4 reds now in just over 2 seasons which is unacceptable. One of those was for a deliberate elbow and one was for yesterday's debacle. And he arrived here with a ban after butting the juventus bloke. He's stupid and childish. However unless we bring in 2 CB before deadline day we aren't in a position to jettison him yet.
People say that Britos and Holebas get too many card and should never play for us again. Compare that to Paul Robinson who used to picking up cards for fun yet he is remembered as a hero. Funny old game......
As left back... I agree, should never play lb again for watford As centre back he can still do a job, although I prefer Prodl and if a 2 Kaboul who looks better with the ball
He shoukdn't really have been matched up v Divingcheatingscumbag. He is too slow. He probably should have placed cb with one of the faster defenders up against said divingcheatingscumbag. Kabasele has pace so should have maybe swapped them over. Britos is a more than useful cb, even if just as backup.
Great defender and I'm happy to be patient with him whilst he learns to be a full back. It's a big fat 'yes' from me.
Paul Robinson was sent off 3 times in just over 250 appearances.. Britos 4 times in just over 50. Actually Britos has now set a club record as he is the first player in the clubs history to be given his marching orders 4 times. There have been 7 players sent off 3 times. I guess we shouldnt be so surprised that Britos is the way he is. He's Uruguayan after all and theyve long since since had one of the worst reputations in world football.
To be honest I did not think that your initial question deserved a more articulate response. I am confused to how you have come to the conclusion that I do not understand team sports. In reality I have been fairly successful in more than one team sport and Its actually how I make a decent living so I must understand a thing or two . Maybe next time you make small minded assumptions about people you do not know anything about on the internet you will stop and think.
You suggested my question was pathetic and the thread should be ended, do you have a monopoly of wisdom and feel no one else's opinion is worthy? You're the one who needs to stop and think. 4 times in 50 matches he has cost the team points, I would prefer a more reliable player, added to that, such thuggery as displayed yesterday is not personally what I would choose to see representing the club. Having said that, I doubt there is many on here who weren't sad to see Knockheart felled, but if you're going to do that, try to be a bit more subtle and make sure he goes off with you. I would have thought someone who makes a decent living from team sports would have known how the remaining team members and the supporters incidentally would feel about an individuals petulance throwing away the teams asvantage. Still, I guess you're still young and have a lot to learn.
Exactly...he did not have to go directly at KHT. He was never going to catch him. A clever defender would have run parallel to the penalty area as KHT still had it all to do. The crying shame is that with 11 men we would probably have won that game. Brighton aside from KHT are toothless. The main positive is that we have a wonderful spirit and greater attacking quality than last year. Silva has already improved the team and I am sure there is more to come.
Was ******* brilliant vs Bournemouth and Liverpool I thought, then does something idiotic like that. Sums him up I suppose
He started off badly getting sent off in his first game (away to Preston) has he done the same in his last I wonder???
Terrible decision made by Britos on Saturday. Should he be sold because of it? No.A good coach will try and improve him and remove this weakness. He won us a point v Liverpool and 3 v Sunderland last season I think.
Can we get rid of some of our 'fans' rather than Britos? Let's start with the OP and others that really support Arsenal or one one the other top 4. Time to drain the Vicarage Road swamp.
He didn't throw away an advantage because at that stage it was 11 vs 11. Maybe being at home was an advantage but he didn't affect that. Yes, the supporters were disappointed in him being sent off - but most, if not all fans understand that red cards happen and are a part of the game. And I bet you not one player was angry with Britos once he had apologised. Because they again know that red cards happen. You certainly don't sell a player because he got one. Vieira? Keane? Should they have been shown the door for being red carded a lot? They are better players than Britos, I grant you that. But we are simply not in a position to jettison players because off poor discipline. If Britos gets sent off once a season, he misses as many, if not less than Holebas through suspension. Should we sell him too? I bet you didn't accuse Britos of not understanding team sports when you were going mad after his last minute equaliser against Liverpool?
Average at best defender with awful distribution and brainless temperament. I don't necessarily want him gone desperately but I certainly wouldn't care if he did leave.
Good for him with that statement. Held his hands up. Apologised. Can't ask more of someone than that. I like Miguel Britos and what he brings to the team was demonstrated by the determination and bravery to throw himself in that got us the equaliser v Lpool. Unfortunately I think his distribution from the back is pretty poor and he's a big culprit for hoofing.
