Mame Biram Diouf scored 12 in 14/15 but I see your point.

I understood the Fessi mourning more than this

    Bizarre

This is a bloke who had 1 half of an amazing season for us and 1 good one as a 3rd choice striker. He flopped with WBA after deciding halfway through the first season that he was too big for us. He then flopped at Reading on loan last season, having been deemed not good enough by both Flores and Mazzarri

I like Vydra, genuinely, hes given me some of my favourite moments in WFC history (his goal in front of the away end at Brighton will always stay with me) and I hope he goes on to do really well in his career.... but £8m is a really generous price and its a good decision for all parties that we go separate ways

Short sighted f*****g decission, Are Sinclair and Success really up to the job or have we left ourselves in exactly the same position that we were in last season, with two strikers that stopped scoring? And to be honest the new recruits didn't impress me much on Tuesday either.

It's not difficult to see why people love Vydra, will miss him and wanted to see him given a chance. I don't think a single player in the Pozzo era has provided so many great, memorable moments for us.

Don't worry, we don't know if anyone's lined up - proabably not and if we haven't the happy clappers can sit there and masturbate over having only Deeney and Ighalo and that's all that matters because remember the club can do NO wrong in their eyes.

Had he stayed in 2013/14 I suspect things would have been very different for him

As it was the WBA loan was too early in his career, and when he did come back he was competing with Iggy + Deeney on fire

In many ways (whether its down to poor agents advice or something in his character) he's been the architect of his own downfall

Good luck to him hope he finds his place

It'll be ok mate, all this lashing out is because you're upset. You'll realise how pathetic you are tomorrow after you've slept on it.

He's off. Permanently. Can't help but feel this is a poor decision unless we bring in Berahino or another ready made Premier League striker.

Hope he has a killer season wherever he goes and one day we get to see if he could've done a job in the Premier League.

Best of luck Matty, thanks for two excellent seasons here and some goals I will never ever forget.

Seems like a big gamble to only have Success and Sinclair as back up strikers. One is a promising wide forward who lacks composure in front of goal and the other only has one senior career goal to his name, against Exeter. If the Deeney/Ighalo partnership keeps misfiring, or one or other suffers an injury, it's a very big ask that either of them come in and score the goals needed for survival.

Honestly though, this will definitely come back to bite us on the ass if:

    1) We don't bring in a striker

    2) Pereyra doesn't get Deeney & Ighalo firing

We'll have to wait and see if it'll be a good decision. Regardless of what anyone says Forestieri was a bad one, he's now worth £7-10 million.

Ok he's gone, can we close this thread please before it turns into a shrine like Fessi's.

Football players come and go, that's just football. If some reports are to be believed we are getting a heck of a lot more than £8.5mil for him which you can't blame Gino for not turning it down. It's the players choice to leave too not just the clubs. He can choose to stay and fight for his place knowing he is fourth choice or he can go be first choice, first name on the team sheet someone else. Vydra has chosen to do just that. Don't blame it all on the club or Gino because that is just pathetic and very short sighted. We have no idea the conversations that have taken place, what we do know is they received an offer, told him and he has asked to speak to them. He has made the choice to leave. Whether you like it or not it takes two to tango and he has chosen to go and tango with someone else

I'm wish him the best of luck wherever he goes (probably Derby). Thanks for all the memories and helping us get into the prem (not that he will ever read this).

Why are Deeney and ighalo being played when they have been atrocious since Christmas? Why was Nyom played why is Anya still being played. They have all been diabolical for a long while now. Our two front men do not move, they have no pace, the players brought in with pace are like vydra not proven in the prem but vydra is proven at watford. Absolutely dreadful decision to let him go and one which like last season I am sure we will regret. Except deeney and ighalo are not an unknown quantity now and will be marked out of every game so **** knows where the goals will come from.

He was such a flop at Reading that he was their second highest goalscorer.

Yes a good summary... but everyone has favourite players and lots of us had a soft spot for this guy and the kind of goals he scored for us.

Given FF and Abdi are gone we have lost a lot of fan favourites in the last year. Will take a few months for Pereyra and co. to become better known and loved in the same way.

Exciting times. They wouldn't be so stupid as to let him go without a better option lined up. They wouldn't want to risk only having 2 goalscorers in the squad of 25 like last season. They wouldn't be so stupid so which proven goalscorer will be signing in the next few days ?? Can't wait to find out. Over to you Gino.

Loved Vydra. Very sad he's going. But can see why.

I respect views posted here from both sides of the debate.

We all support the same club..pity this discussion has been taken over by name calling and insults.

    I agree.
I'm sad and disappointed he's going. Arsenal are currently showing us what pace can do in the Prem and Vydra has pace. We are lacking in pace in the team overall. When Walter is supposed to be a great developer of strikers I would have thought he would want to keep Vydra and turn him into a top striker.
Thank you for your service Matty. Enjoyed watching you and you have left some great memories - starting at Palace and including Brighton twice, Leeds, Brentford (fantastic strike) Leicester (that volley).
I hope he now goes on and becomes the player he should be.

Pereyra and Success have all the pace and trickery we need, if Wally would use them instead of playing out-of-form and out-of-shape up top

Stay well away from Enjoooythegame on facebook for 6 months too.

Can see why the move has happened I imagine there was a conversation where we couldn't guarantee him game time plus risk his value dropping too much because of that and he probably needs a fresh start to feel like the main man again.

Some truly memorable moments came from matty, will never forget that first game against Palace remember walking up to the ground pretending to be a know it all to my mate saying he was going to bang them in and then he scored that goal, that's just one of his superb moments and I truly hope he gets back on track again because the talent is definitely there!
