Seemed obvious to me that his legs have gone from the first couple of times he played for us. If we can recoup some money and get him off the wage bill then I think we've done ok.
Have to agree, to me he always looked slow & immobile, more than you can just put down to lack of match fitness. There were rumours his legs had gone before we even signed him too.
That'll be two out of three of Flores' own signings gone. Can we make it a hat-trick or is Ambrabat going to be the only one who comes good?
I thought he looked rather shaky there, but that's a discussion for another thread. He did OK, but he's not a wing back.
I think Suarez would be a much better player if he was made super match fit in a decent preseason, however .... Michael Ricketts played twice as many international football minutes for England than the Spanish international Mario Suarez managed in a single pre tournament friendly in Qatar. Both then entered the international wilderness. Ricketts at least went onto become Troy Deeney's mate. Just saying before someone reprises the "but Suarez is a super talented Spanish international, superstar, lucky to have him" guff.
For much of last season since signing he was no worse than Amrabat and at times actually the better of the two. Yet no one has been clamouring for the latter to go. Guess yesterday showed what happens when you actually give players a chance under a new manager...
Mario Suarez was capped three times for Spain. The Spain of that period were far, far superior to any side England have ever had. Atletico Madrid are a far better side to the Bolton side Ricketts played in. Suarez has won the Copa Del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, La Liga, Europa League and has a Champions League runner up medal all in the past four years. Ricketts won the Championship playoffs with Bolton.
Amrabat looked like Flores wasn't using him properly (yesterday shows that was probably right). Suarez just looked slow & weak.
I feel sorry for lad. I think given time, he'd be a really useful player for us. Can spot a pass and has great vision. Agreed, hasn't exactly set the world on fire since January, but nor has iggy
His a decent player, who should now be fit. Given a run I think he could be very useful. I'd keep him
So - we are 2 over the 17 foreign allocation - lets assume Paredes / Arlausikas are gonners and Pereya and Tisserand are coming in - who else would you loan / sell? - this comes down to choices
Atletico fans warned Fiorentina fans that Suarez wasn't the same player anymore, Fiorentina fans warned us and now it looks like he'll be moving on again. 4 clubs in less 2 years. Not sure what the problem is but my guess is that his legs have gone. Not sure why at his age but he looks so off pace. He can spray a lovely ball as some have memotioned but only if he has time and space. If anyone puts pressure on him he's useless. Would be happy to see him go.
I see a lot of people saying his legs have gone. What does that actually mean? I understand players lose pace with age but Suarez game isn't based around pace anyway. Can he make it down the street to buy a pint of milk or is that endeavour also beyond him since he hit 28?
Arlauskis & Paredes we know about and it looks like Djedje isn't going to be fit for another month at least Do you take the gamble that he might or do you leave him out till January ? That would open the door for one of them to come in. I'm not convinced yet that we will sign both
The Manager has some interesting decisions as Vydra, Holebas, Amrabat, Guediora and Nyon have all been definites for the chop in recent weeks, however with three of them starting our first match and the other two on the bench it would look like most if not all of them are staying, I remember when the transfer of Jimmy Lindsey was delayed a day because his car broke down when he was on the way to sign (1972) interesting times (these days not those)
http://www.fichajes.net/noticias/acuerdo-valencia-mario-suarez-20160814.html This claims they have agreed personal terms & length of contract. It is down to the clubs to agree a fee.
Doucoure is on his way and neither of Pereyra or tisserand are signing. So good news on the squad numbers then.
So now we know - it takes 2 mins to sign out as Moog / sign back in as Meridensi and challenge your own post!
