Why would we replace a striker in our 25 man squad with a wing back? Especially when we have two poor full backs on our books.
I'll give this guy his shot (don't bombard me with the usual 'why won't people give players a chance sh*t) but I have to say I'm not hugely optimistic and I don't see this as a good signing.
Hopefully a back-up squad player rather than first name on the teamsheet given his age and the fact he couldn't get into the Bologna team last season. There must be better to come in surely ?
I share your reservations. Over the last three seasons when he should be in his prime, he's only started a game 13 times in Series A. Hasn't played a proper season of football sInce 2013/13. Hopefully Mazzarri can get the best out of him but three years of hardly any football isn't promising.
Not happy with this. My sentiment gauge suggests generally negative to neutral sentiment which is a bad sign. I want players in with a uniformly positive reaction from Armchair fans at this stage of the game
I wasn't considering playing positions I was taking into account the report on WDS that five foreign players would not make the cut, could be Parades, Arliuskis, Belkalem, Pudil and one other
Never seen the guy play but if he has 60 plus caps for Columbia, who are miles better than England, maybe he has something about him? That said we do need better quality in that position, otherwise we are better off play 4 at the back
Think we have to trust Mazzarri on this one , as it seems from WD Sports report ,he has been specifically targeted by him
Happy enough with this one. Hoping for one more WB and then that will leave us with Holebas on the left, and either Zuniga on the right or the new WB and Zuniga can cover both sides. Plus Anya as 4th choice WB.
Agreed - seems solid enough options if we get one more in. Think Anya should do better than last season in this new formation. Not sure where it leaves Nyom/Paredes though. Out the door presumably. Perhaps keep Nyom in case we revert to back 4.
Can't say that this was unexpected. Decent addition, although not one who I expect will dominate the rwb position. We still need a RWB, a LWB, a CB and a creative (goal scoring) attacking midfielder.
Do you think we need both a RWB and LWB? I think Zuniga and Anya should be cover for both, and then just buy a RWB
It resonates with the signing of Jurado for me. A 'Harry Redknapp' signing, brought in because the manager wants one of HIS players, regardless of the fact their career seems to be headed in the wrong direction. We will see. All too happy to be wrong.
If he is fit and at his best he will play. Slight worry that he and Holebas, good as they can be, won't be fit and won't be at their best. Have to get another wing back and keep Anya, or maybe it'll be necessary to convert someone, like Berghuis, to wingbackery.
Not sure the signing ofa player favoured by a new incoming manager is a technique strictly confined to Harry Redknapp .
All managers, in all industries do this. I think what you're seeing in the "Jurado effect". Gino saying "All right, have you man then. But if he's crap I'm cutting him loose at the end of the year".
WD 40 now saying it is likely Maggio is coming too . Our back 5 is going to look like the cast of Dads Army
Looks like both nyom and parades are on their way if Maggio coming in is true. Maggio would be the likely first choice out of those two.
You don't remember this then?
Think we'll keep Nyom, as 2nd choice RWB and as an option for CB (especially since he's been playing CB preseason). Bye bye Paredes though.
Either way, I fancy us to win the Herts Senior Trophy this year . Should be a stroll.... quite literally.
Maggio, nickname 'Superbike' did score an all time classic here at 44 secs. Walter Mazzari in Bill Hicks mode watches on.
