Just say a twitter rumour saying he was close to a move to Reading, the person wasn't sure if it was a loan. Put the prefix as rubbish as haven't seen it anywhere else
Seen an MK Dons fan claim Bond and Murray are to spend the season with them. **** club but would be an ideal move for those two.
https://twitter.com/Madstadder1871 Source was this bloke. Had something similar with Rangers a few weeks back I think as well.
I don't think it's rubbish. I called Bond to Reading (not on these forums) on a season-long loan a month ago when they released Federici to Bournemouth. He won't go there permanently, we rate him too much. Currently Reading only have two goalkeepers, both from their academy, with Ali Al-Habsi in goal. Bondy is much better than all three of them so they certainly will play him if he goes there.
I've just informed my girlfriend (who is uninterested in football in general) that he may be leaving. She replied with a rather sad no. I fear she's now lost complete interest and she'll never come to a game again.
If this goes ahead I am pleased for Bond as he deserves to be playing regularly and will only improve by doing so. However I think we will regret ditching him and for the lad's sake I hope we do.
We don't know what has gone on though. It's perfectly plausible that we wanted to send him on loan but we got a decent bid from Reading and Jonathan told the club he wanted a move somewhere close by where he could settle and realistically be number one, rather than being sent out on loan for another year or two.
Maybe I'm too optimistic but, with Udinese, I'm accustomed to reading lots of rumours about our young players being "sold" somewhere. Unless we are getting rid of someone who was on loan in 2nd or 3rd tier and it is now obvious he will never break in first team, 99% of times those rumours were false because it was just a loan. The Pozzo's rarely sell some young player they still have hopes for.
Goal Keepers are a tricky one. I rate Bond, but he needs to be playing regularly and he's not quite good enough to be a Prem keeper yet, but he can't just sit around as second choice for 5 years until he is good enough. Edit - Apparently Reading are after Al Habsi as well, would be a strange move for him if they do sign Al Habsi as well.
What happened? Wait, wasn't them at the ridiculously high scoring game? 7-5 or something? I doubt that was down to the keepers. More likely the defence.
Was never likely to make it here so for the right fee - probably £1m total plus a healthy sell on - I think this is a perfect move for him.
Surprised not a season loan but Bond is just a victim of circumstances..... last season was the big one to gain promotion and this current season we cannot risk blooding an inexperienced young keeper. Needs game time.
Not his performance, his attitude Was goading the penalty takers and then mocking them after they missed
So? They won the shootout. Krul did the same in the World Cup. If it works and wins your team the game then why not?
Was pretty inevitable this was going to happen with Gomes and Arlauskis signing three-year deals. I'd imagine he has asked to leave permanently rather than us getting an offer we cannot refuse. Would be a brilliant move for him though.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/13371138.Bond_set_to_complete_Royals_switch/ Our loss but fair play to him - English football is filled with examples of talented, young keepers who haven't had enough regular first team football at a young age and not fulfilled their potential as a result. All the best Bondy!
If we're talking value in isolation I agree he's probably worth more. But we owe him a duty not to impede his progress towards becoming a first choice goalkeeper and frankly I think asking much more would be a hindrance to that. Plus he only has a year left on his contract and I can't see a tribunal or whatever valuing him at more than that if he chose to sit out this season and leave on a bosman next summer.
