Protecting his asking price.... He's as good as gone ! Stay with us till January, then go where you like, we get top whack for you and as a thank you for holding out we'll increase your wages.... Laters Iggy
Does no one think signing Odion Ighalo for 5 years is a good thing? The apathy on here is outstanding. Personally I think it's another piece of fantastic news.
It is only good new if Iggy hits the ground running this season and starts banging the goals in. If he cannot recapture his best form you could end up with a player on high wages who is losing value and who you could not move on even if you wanted to. I think he will do well and so we don't have too much to worry about.
It's great news. Another boost to his confidence off the back of his goal on Saturday. Let's hope he gets the scoop out v Southampton to celebrate.
Well, you can understand the apathy can't you? He was already tied down to 2020, and many on here (myself included) are waiting for the club to sign an attacking mid, and not another bit of non-important news to be honest.
It's actually good news, there's a clause in the contract saying he'll get £10,000 for each goal and -£10,000 for each misplaced 5 yard pass, so the cost is nominal to club. For those of you who berate..have a sense of humour...life's too short.
Iggy is both great and rubbish in equal measures. He played well against Man Utd with his strength, getting in front of his marker, winning the ball, helping ease the pressurre and of course he can score really good goals, let's not forget he was the countries top scorer in 2015. On the flip side, he passes the ball like a 10 year old beginner and often takes too long working out when to do it as well. Bizarre.
Time to sell, I think. It's pretty gutting to see Ighalo's alarming drop in form this year. He is a shadow of the player he was for us in the championship and in the first half of last season. I know he's had a tough year (losing his father) and he has my sympathy here, but football is a business and for a long time now, Ighalo has not been delivering. Mazzarri has given him plenty of chances to break his duck and start performing to the levels he once hit, but unfortunately he has not yet taken them. If we get a decent offer in from China, we should sell up and seek a permanent replacement next month.
Please please please tell me this is true!! If we manage to get anything over £15,000,000 we've well and truly mugged someone off!
Disappointing that he has not found his best form this calendar year. I was hoping for him to turn over a new leaf in 2017, maybe he will somewhere else.
I would be more enthusiastic about this news if I thought there was a chance that we might sign a replacement who wouldn't be injured within 45 minutes of starting the first game. Don't send Sinclair out on loan. We may need him so we can field 11 fit players.
I think that ship has sailed for both us and Ighalo. I can't see anyone going above £10m now, even the Chinese.
Don't speak too soon. Chinese Super League clubs have been offering absurd amounts of money recently. I wouldn't be surprised to see a £15m+ bid come in.
Having financial woes he now needs the money, so his previous reluctance to go will evaporate as he requires the wages.
Considering they've just made Tevez the highest paid footballer in the world I feel there's time to stick Ighalo on that ship before it sails.
You can't honestly be comparing Tevez with Ighalo. Tevez has scored almost 200 goals at the top level and played 75 times for Argentina.
