Hear Hear. Buy him for a compromise £1.5m, if he genuinely isn't getting much playing time (which he will) sell him for £3.5m to QPR or Bristol in January. Simples....
I want him back but £3.5 mill isn't worth it, he can't blame us, blame his sh*t team. Mind you, Crystal Palace are putting together an amazing team.
But that's supposedly what QPR and Bristol C have bid (per wdsport website). If we increase our bid to £1m-£1.5m, given AG will only come to us, we can more than recover our cost in January if needbe. Leave our bid at £500k and CP might just conclude they might as well risk letting his contract run down
I'm assuming there 3.5m is a negotiating tactic. In real terms I'd assume they're actually after 1.5-2 and when we offered the 0.5 they turned round with 3.5 in a hope for a 'meet you in the middle' deal. But who knows anyways.
Wasn't he heading for The Budley Salterton home for the terminally short of cash. Ps apologies for dislike. Fat fingers Pps I wasn't calling you fat fingers
Yup. They'll probably do OK but I wouldn't call them amazing either. Apart from Cabaye who is genuinely excellent I've not been impressed so far. Connor Wickham has some quality but is massively over-priced at £9M (and Jordon Mutch for nearly £6M!!!). Bamford might do well at this level but I suspect he probably won't. Also Bolasie who I rate as their best player could well be on his way to Spuds.
Yes he was I think! My dad saw Drobny play there, muttering 'no ballboys for a player of my calibre'! Think this saga has some way to go yet.Who will blink first, probably Parish when his fringe gets in his eyes.
I'll be completely alone in this, but I happen to think that not only is he worth good money, his approach to the game means that he is the sort of player who could have a future at the club beyond his playing days.....his attitude, infectious enthusiasm, passion and leadership on the field mark him out as coaching material But that's just me cue avalanche of personal insults
If his attitude in the pitch is anything to go by I think everyone will agree. Hard working, a player of any level or age can improve there game simply by working a lot harder.
Palace have signed Sako. I think they're putting together a thoroughly decent team. However, Sako's agent put it about that he wouldn't sign for less than 80k a week, so make of that what you will!
Cabaye - good. Bamford - decent in the Championship but disappeared towards the end of the season. Sako - decent in the Championship, no more than that. Could be on crazy wages. Wickham - I don't understand what anyone see's in him, he's been ****ing awful whenever I see him. They've massively overpaid because he's British.
Wickham for 9 million is hilarious. He's somehow still making a living off a couple of decent seasons for Ipswich as a youngster. In the last four years he's scored 20 league goals and only 11 in the top flight. Stunningly average record. I honestly wouldn't pay 2 million for him.
QPR overpay for everyone. They're a long way from a good yardstick for value. The facts are that he is in the last year of his contract, is unproven in the Premier League, is not homegrown, is not English and is not getting into their squad. For me, that does not add up to a 3.5 million sale price. Better players than him have been sold for less from first team squads when in the last year of their contract, and he isn't even playing for Palace. If they keep him for the year, the cost isn't 500k. It's 500k + the wages they will pay for the remaining duration of his contract. Given that he's contracted to a Premier League team it seems likely he's on at least 25k per week, which equates to about 1.3 million a year (and that could well be a lowball estimate) pre-bonuses. Add into that the lost 500k and it ends up costing them 1.8 million before the accountants start getting creative. That just doesn't make sense.
Issue with a silly bid like 500k is that if that is the only deal Guedioura will go for then if i was Palace i would keep him as an insurance policy and look to sell in Jan I suspect we will sweeten the deal before end of the month after Behrami has been sent off twice and Abdi is injured!
Now just to recoup the money for the other 50 odd players they've blown silly money on in the last 10 years.
The Pozzos methods for buying and valuing players has been successful for 20 years. Can't see them changing it for what is essentially an excellent second division player. Yes, he was brilliant. Yes, he loves the place. Yes, he played a big part in our promotion. Yes, I want us to sign him. No, we shouldn't pay £3.5m for him.
Agree with all of this. It's also worth noting that Sunderland have made a PROFIT on Connor Wickham. Now, let that just sink in for a moment. Sunderland have made a profit on Wickham. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
They signed him for £8m rising to £12m and sold him for £7m potentially rising to £9m. After wages etc, probably a decent loss. Btw I'd have been pretty chuffed if we signed him for £2m.
Ah I think you're right actually. Whoops! I'd probably take him for £2m, but only if we've exhausted all other options.
Wickham's still dead young. You never know, he could end up doing really really well at Palace. Mad money for a player with that record, of course, but what English player, particularly younger players, are ever going to be moving for a normal fee these days?
No we shouldn't but not sure anyone is saying we should. The issue is we've apparently only offered £500k. I'd be prepared to pay £1m maybe £1.5m if need be to get a deal done. Would you ?
Good lads. If you and Watford Talk put up £1m-£1.5m each I'm sure that would ease his passage to Watford.
