Stats are very misleading unless you look at the bigger picture. Yes 11 goals in 44 games looks a decent return for a CM. Until you see that last season the greedy **** took 119 shots (3rd highest out of every player in the league last season). Better off rid.
McGugan is also one of higher earners I believe and is to costly to just let rot in the reserves. Loaning him out reduces the pay roll and keeps him fit. Hopefully he'll benefit and come back stronger
Heard an interview with Dyche today on talksport. He said that negative players spread their negativity through the squad. If you're right Forza then that's why he's gone. Expect the same for Dyer shortly!
He was brilliant against Bolton (Team was tbh), but one game makes not a season. If he comes back and does well this was a good move. If he gets sold on in January this was a good move.
Terrible at Birmingham but in fairness hasn't played in a while. Decent last season and certainly his goals from midfield were invaluable. Bit surprised we are doing this now unless we have a loan lined up, Batts comes (not sure he can) or we are happy with Munari, Abdi, Tozser, Andrews and Murray. Munari is excellent but is 32 years old and this league is blooming hard work and nothing like he's experienced before. Already had a couple of injuries Abdi just seems to be injured a lot. We all know how good he can be but staying fit seems to be a problem Tozser. God help us if gets injured Andrews. Similar age to Munari but more used to the rigors of this league. The wrong side of 30 though Murray. Utter bobbins currently That is a slightly worrying collection of midfielders in my view. 4 of them are very decent players but only 1 seems able to play on a regular basis. I would hope there is another currently in the pipeline. Chalobah? No idea where he is playing these days but doesn't seem to have kicked on since his season here. Seems to a familiar thing with young players at Chelsea.
Do you know who we really miss? Iriney, the greatest passer in the whole of Europe in his prime last season. Better check up on him actually, with stats like that perhaps he is at Barca or Bayern Munich...
Sounds believable to me. Maybe with Sannino too there was something, but the Pozzo's thought "Maybe a just some misunderstanding due to language barrier". If SJ (who speaks a good English, contrary to Beppe) had the same impression they decided "Better to get rid, now!". If it is so, I fully agree. Team harmony is more important than a single player's performance.
How many more assists (and more importantly Watford goals) would we have got if he'd taken 70 less shots and passed instead?
Yes he is ..ha ha we lost nearly every game with George Thorne and won nearly every game with Ireney..... Stats don't lie
I bet Ikechi will be disappointed by this. He'll know that he's going to be the next one to be lined up by our wonderful fans.
I've got a feeling we'll be making a few signings in January and this is the start of us moving players out we don't need.
I agree with you on this. it'll be interesting to see who we're targeting. I'd reckon that Badu is a slight possibility if the player can be convinced to accept a move. We'll certainly look to bring in some experience of the league. Plenty of tems will have to offload some players if they're not looking in contention.
The Sheffield fans are praising this signing as they need a creative midfielder... If by creative they mean shoots a lot they might be happy.
Good player but there lies the problem, we don't need that. I don't mean to sound UKIPy but we do need some home-grown backbone. That's the only downside of all the luxury imports, not many want to get stuck in. Plus if we have to convince him then I'd rather not. Need people who want first team football, want Premier League football and want to help Watford get there. Must be SOMEONE good and affordable in England surely!?
Scenario 1: our uniquely horrible fans bullied a valuable and dedicated professional out of the club because they irrationally disliked him and hounded him out with diabolical fervour. Scenario 2: fans, coach, director of football and owner have all recognised the shortcomings in application and attitude of the player, with the people in power surmising that despite his goals and talent and the fact that he's homegrown and we have little cover in that position we are better off without his influence.
Gianni Munari gets stuck in as much as someone like Jonny Hogg ever did imo. Bit unfair to assume that foreign players will have less desire and motivation than English ones. Badu is a regular first teamer for Udinese and Ghana. Anyone turning their nose up at him is a fool. There's absolutely no chance we'd get him now, by the way. Maybe if we go up.
We really should have kept hold of john eustace, I know it is easy to say that now, but great team player, perfect for this league and a great captain. I was not that bothered at the time when we let him go at the time to be honest.
He decided to go because he wouldn't have played much. We didn't let him go, Zola said he wanted to keep him.
Scenario 3: McGugan had a falling out with Deeney, so for his personal safety it was decided to ship McGugan out of Watford FC ASAP.
I would also argue he has shown he can play well for us, though that can be said for many players in our team who have moved on. I do think Murray can do a good job, but he would need regular game time, and he isn't going to get that here.
Whatever the rights or wrongs of this individual decision, the overall wider picture it hints at is that we're a side who've lost 2 in a row having recently appointed both a new Head Coach and the person who looks after our recruitment, and we're actually doing something about it!
I know SJ doesn't have a huge say in the players who come in, but does he have a say in the players who leave?
