Unless he understands the Pozzo short list then this is a ridiculous question - I had never heard of Iggy, Abdi et al before we signed them. Personally I don't think Vydra would cut it at this level...
That's 2 more than most of our clowns, and I think you will find his assists are higher than them too! Another thing I think Deeney would have had a lot of pressure taken off him and probably would have scored more goals, as Vydra would have at least been able to pass to him accurately, plus I think Vydra would have chipped in with at least 10 goals, even if he was only used as the 3rd striker mainly coming off the bench, and starting when needed. Loaning out Vydra has been QSF's biggest error since he joined us!
And Amrabat is meant to be worth 6m.I would have Vydra or FF over him any day.QSF thinks he is our knife in attack.lol
Most of our clowns?? You realise we're 14th in the Premier League and in the Semi-final of the FA Cup yes?
I'm a big fan of Vydra and would love to see him back playing for Watford but to be fair his best attribute was getting in behind defences, we've not looked to play that ball very often at all this season, so maybe that is why Flores decided to loan him out - if we are going to be a little more adventurous next season and go 4-3-3 maybe there is a berth for him come August. He is still relatively young and hopefully he is continuing to improve. Time will tell.
Amrabat has been improving since he got here. At the moment he is the best of the outfield winter signings.
Errr, I think you meant to add this version:
Vydra has yet to prove he can play well next to any other striker than Deeney. Arrived at Watford, played with Deeney, had a great season. Went to WBA, no Deeney, crap season. Came back to Watford, played with Deeney, great season. Went to reading, no Deeney, crap season. I think he's the kind of striker who needs a specific type of strike partner in order to shine.
Could say the same about Ighalo too, we'll see when he leaves though. Says more about what a tremendous foil Deeney is rather than Vydra being a bad player.
Why though? Do cup goals not count? Surely it makes sense to look at how many goals he's scored overall? If someone asked you how many goals Guedioura had scored this season would you reply "none"?
What did deeney have to do with one of the best goals ive seen live, vydras volley in the leicester play off semi final? The boys clearly got immense talent, we've been able to harness it before why the hell not again? Surely it's better than having oulare on the bench who finds it difficult to hit the ball with his head.
I dont know about attitude because like others here we are not around on the training ground and dont know him personally. When he has played for us I think he has always put a shift in and remember at Brighton away chased back about 70 yards in the final couple of minutes after Fessi had messed a chance up. What I do know is that the boy is blessed with lightning pace and in his 2 full years with us he has demonstrated a clinical ability in front of goal. I know the goals have been in the championship but so were Iggys and Troys before this season and IMO he would be able to make the transition. He would certainly have been a better option off the bench than Oulare. I am glad he is only on loan and I desperately hope that we see him in a yellow shirt again.
In hindsight I think we can all agree that the likes of Vydra and Fessi should have been given opportunities off the bench ahead of Diamanti/Berghuis/Oulare/Ibarbo etc.
Some of us didn't need hindsight, but then we've not been able to see what Diamanti/Berghuis/Oulare/Ibarbo etc. Do in training every day.
Seeing players in training is an indication of what they might do, but seeing them in matches is evidence of what they have done. I don't care how brilliant players are in training (and Fabb seems to have been a prime example), I'm interested in what they do on the pitch.
