According to the journalist who covers West Brom for the Birmingham Mail there is ''no truth'' in this rumour.

I think / hope Deeney will stay for another season for several reasons: -

He has a chance to go down in Watford history if he gets another 20+ goals

He gets to partner with Vydra again which will make the above look achievable

He might get the chance to play in the Prem next season with Watford

If Watford don't get promoted next season he can then look for a move to the Prem and very few of us would deny him this chance

He is our best player and we love him - and he knows this

They'd probably love a Birmingham fan who was at Villa ( I think) as a youth player leading their line...

McCormack is supposedly going to Fulham for £10 mil. That has to be the benchmark for Deeney, he's older than Deeney and has only had one season of 20+ goals.

Also ten million for McCormack? Football is broken.

Watford have rejected bid from Burnley for Troy Deeney. #watfordfc #twitterclarets

I'm quite happy it's only teams like Burnley/Norwich enquiring for him, as they will not be able to meet the transfer fee Watford would want. Dyche has already gone on record straight after they got promoted saying Burnley will have to be clever with their signings as they won't be able to spend £10m on one player. Deeney is valued at around that figure, not just because of his ability on the field, but also what he brings off the pitch in personality and team spirit.

What clubs have to remember is that they are not just dealing with "little ol' Watford" anymore. If they approach the club for a player, they are dealing with a much larger organisation. One which can demand a top price for their star assets and that can afford to turn down low/average bids.

Watford are building a squad that can get challenge for promotion. Deeney is an integral part of that plan. If an "exceptional" offer comes in, one which the club could not refuse, then of course it would be taken seriously. Anything short of that will be dismissed.

    I knew Dyche would try.

I'm not sure if I'm just thinking this to make myself feel better don't I don't see Burnley being an attractive move for him. He'd unlikely to be first choice, (they'll only play one striker and it'll be Ings), it would mean he'd have to move to burnley, I doubt they'd increase his wages that much and he'd probably only get one season in the prem.

Hopefully the McCormack deal will go through by then. If he's worth ten, it will inflate the price for a player who is two years younger and has scored more goals than McCormack over the last two or three seasons.

I really don't think Deeney is going anywhere this summer .

If we not anywhere in January then he may well go

If Deeney does stay, he's handled it superbly.

So many players have lost form or sulked when the move hasn't transpired. He's made the likes of Gerrard and Suarez look pathetic.

I always think it's quite flattering when bids come in for any of our players. It shows we must be doing something right!

I disagree with HB1 about being pleased it's Burnley that have come in for him. None of us know, we're all speculating me included, but who is to say the Dyche factor won't be a big carrot for Troy? Plus a PL club, probably better wages. He may be interested. Of course we know the Pozzos would reject any bid that wasn't huge, but how many times last season did player power win out eventually across the land?

Of course we're building a side aiming for promotion but so are several other teams in our division. Football's a job for players, not a sentimental exercise. Of course Burnley might be one season wonders in the PL but didn't we say that of Palace too after 10 games?

I'm braced for a summer of speculation and holding our nerve, but like everybody else I hope Deeney stays. Not only does he have a phonemonal goal record in the last two years but he plays virtually every match. That's a real kudos considering the position he plays and the stick his body takes.

So first Dyche ditches us for Burnley, leaves us up sh*t creek and takes Cowie and now he's trying to steal away Deeney too.

    Shameless.

I didn't say I was pleased Burnley have come in for him, but I am happy it's only clubs of that stature, as they are extremely unlikely to meet the valuation of the Pozzo's for Watford's star asset. If the club's cannot agree a fee, then it doesn't really matter too much if Deeney fancies it or not, as it will not get that far.

Deeney is content at Watford, that seems obvious to me. If the clubs did agree a fee, then I'm sure Deeney would be happy to play in the Premier League for Dyche, but I do not think Burnley are a club that Deeney would create a massive fuss over joining, with forcing a move. I just don't see it.

But as you're not Troy Deeney and neither am I, both of us are just guessing!

Who is to say Burnley couldn't meet our demands? They're a PL club, with all the money that entails.

Dyche has said on numerous occasions they can't afford to spend millions on one player.

Somebody on another forum has suggested Deeney is on 22k a week!

(Then said people like Bond/Hoban would be on 6k a week...)

Highly doubt that can be true given the Pozzo model of not paying out too much in terms of wages...but then player and agent have the power.

I don't think Deeney would kick up a fuss given the fact we actually gave him a second chance when it would have been easy to kick him out.

He is probably very humble and grateful to us.

I'm going on a quote from Dyche, which I mentioned in a previous post, saying Burnley could not spend £10m on a player. Unless Dyche is misleading people, it's unlikely Burnley are prepared to spend that sort of cash on a single player in year one.

I firmly predict Deeney will still be a Watford player, unless an offer of around £10m (not from Burnley) is received.

I doubt he'll leave. As others have said he's handled it superbly so far. Deeney may get a little bit of stick from some because his off field antics, but I think respect goes a long way for him, and WFC respected him, and helped him, whilst he was out. If he leaves it'll be as the club wants the cash.

    I firmly believe that too.

I was just replying to your original post which made several assumptions, which may or may not be correct.

We DON'T actually know that Deeney would find a move to Burnley to be re-united with Dyche attractive or not.

We also DON'T actually know what the Pozzos would or would not accept for Deeney. We can all guess, and some of those guesses might be accurate.
