CALLING SHERLOCK How are Siligardi and Giannetti doing for Livorno and Spezia this season? We were linked with both in January and I wondered if there's any chance we'd be after them again.
We all know we've missed that spell of clinical finishing he had. What we've missed more the option that pace gives us. Anya has the pace but he is no clinical finisher. Let's hope what ever option we secure close season that we see more of him on the pitch/bench than we have our current loan option.
I'll copy what I've posted in the QPR match thread: I really think we've got a good squad to go forward with. GK: Almunia, Bond, Woods RWB: Faraoni, Anya LWB: Riera, Pudil CB: Angella, Ekstrand, Hoban, Doyley, Cassetti/Cassetti replacement, Hall replacement CM: Abdi, McGugan, Tozser, Murray, Merkel, Battocchio, Diakite replacement ST: Deeney, Forestieri, Ranegie, Acuna, Vydra replacement This assumes that Belkalem, Iriney, Fabbrini will leave. I think we realistically need four new players, five if Almunia leaves, but if we can sign our loanees I think we've got a great team to build upon. But as an extra, I'd love to sign Luke Freeman who will surely leave Stevenage now they've been relegated to League 2. Can't cost much, he's a great young talent, he's homegrown, he's already local.
Strikers. I know everyone wants Vydra back, but I'd quite like to see a striker who offered the best bits of Vydra and Deeney, they do exist, Thiery Henry was one. 6'2", strong, great with head and feet, and bl00dy quick. So I'd like Nani to go get us one of those please (paid for by selling Deeney, Fabrinni, Acuna, Irinney, Ranegie and anything else not nailed down, should raise a few quid) Midfield Abdi, Tozser plus develop Fessi as an AM and that for me is a dream midfield 3. Full backs/Wing backs If we are going 442 433 451 then we are short of a couple of full backs and this potentially is the biggest hole in our squad. Wing back/wingers Riera and Anya provide width, trickery and pace, but need back up. Still think there is mileage in developing Sean Murray as a RW / RWB. Centre backs Hoban, Angella, Ekstrand, Brown, Doyley.. if we are going flat back 4 then we are sorted. If we stay 352 then I think Cassetti needs replacing Goalkeeper Almunia gave us that moment, and for that he can be forgiven anything. But if I were going to criticise, which I'm not, at critical moments he seems shy of getting stuck in and taking a boot to the face or a kick to the ribs. I'd like to see a new keeper (with massive cahones and an iron jaw) and Bond go out on 12 months loan. So...formation wise....451 but with wingers making it a 433 with the ball -----------NEW ST, pace and power----------- --------------Thiery Henry mkII--------------- Riera-------------------------------------Anya -------------------Fessi---------------------- ----------Toszer------------Abdi------------- --------------------------------------------- NEW--------Angella-------Hoban------Faraoni --------------------------------------------- -------------------NEW----------------------
In my next installment I shall explain why it is critical Nani finds the next Diego Marradona, and how he might be paid for by selling lifetime season tickets on finance.
No I don't, he is an excellent Championship player, but I don't think he will cut it in the Premiership, so I reckon Leicester will look to off load him in the Summer!
Imagine that Leicester's top scorer, pivotal in getting them promoted and then told "Dave sorry mate thanks for getting us here but you're not wanted" before even playing a Premier League game.
Yeah, it's like signing a promotion winning goalkeeper from league one who played the majority of the season and then got chucked.
Liam Trotter anyone? I know we were linked with under Zola. I assume being on loan at Bolton means Millwall want rid.
I believe his contract is up at the end of the season and the move to Bolton was pretty much an extended trial before they sign him permanently.
There's probably a reason that Millwall don't want him. Hasn't exactly pulled up trees at Bolton. We could do much better.
Leading on from this, sort of, we also watched Sporting Lisbon's Eric Dier and Matt Jones of Belenenses last week when their teams faced each other.
I watched them last week as well, doesn't mean I'm gonna try and get them to play for my Sunday league team.
I agree with TVOR that Nugent is a good championship player and won't cut it in the prem, but Leicester won't off load him If George Boyd has a part to play as a back up striker at Hull then Nugent definetaly has a role to play at leicester
