I wonder if that muppet on twitter who always says "results don't matter in youth football" will pipe up tonight

Are you sure he's not being ironic, given that that's what HK always says?

He doesn't need an interpreter despite being foreign, so Harry's alright by me

Dja Djedje has gone from being Marseille's RB to losing 8-0 to Ipswich Under 23s in less than a year. What a signing.

You think we've got problems with the U23's......we actually beat Palarse 3-0 last week.....how bad are they?

No doubt Kewell was blaming the ref swearing in the 4th official ear all the time..

Actually not read any quotes from him for a while - must have run out of excuses.

    lol 3 million well spent!

At least the youngsters are already getting used to losing, it will prepare them for their loan spells and eventual transfers to the lower depths of League Two.

Having not made the squad thanks to the goalie situation, surely we need to loan the guy out for the rest of the season? Poor fekker.

This is what youth football is all about. I'd much rather our youngsters lose 8-0 and learn from all of their mistakes, rather than win 8-0 and think their God's given gift which no doubt the Ipswich players will think they are now.

    Great result.

Old Dja Djedje must be rueing that decision to give up life in the South of France to play in a **** under 23 team. Thought he looked reasonable, the couple of times he's got on the pitch with the first team.

7-1 loss follows the 8-0 loss.

What I would like to know is, the first team do not have a game now for 12 days, why are none of the squad even involved? Bar Stewart, who was on the bench at the weekend, none of the youth players that has been around the squad are even involved. Are they all injured? Do we have a behind closed door friendly arranged perhaps, because the likes of Success needs minutes surely? Or is Kewell just so bad, that it't not worth risking them?

It's embarrassing. I want to hear someone tell me one more time that it's not about the result at this level. 15 goals in two games is pretty laughable.

Surely cannot be helping the confidence of the young players!

Hardly heard any quote from Kewell either for quite a while (in the WO anyway..)

No, that was the score at kickoff. They gave us a 2 goal head start to make the first 10 minutes competitive.

Kewell pushing his case for new manager perhaps?

I did hear Barnsley made a mistake and fielded their under 13s, not 23s.

It's not about results at this level.

Man Utd went from winning their U23 group, to almost being relegated. Their approach changed. This year they no longer play first team professionals to give them match sharpness. They mostly play the kids.

The problem with the U23 league is that some teams have very talented 16/17 year olds who they want to give exposure to. Other clubs have much older professionals they want to keep fit. A year at that point in their development is a huge gap, and it can sometimes average out to a 5 year average difference in age- let alone size etc.

Our U23s are full of teenagers. I'm sure we'd like them to be winning every week, but the fact they are playing against much more powerful men by the sound of it, might not be such a bad thing. Especially as all we are really looking for at that level is one or - if we're really lucky - two stars.

Playing in an environment where you are getting torn apart every week, gives you zero opportunity to develop a winning mentality, a style or a team ethic. I guarantee this approach will bear zero dividends for the club or the lads in that side.

Agreed & I doubt very much that Gino & Co are happy to see defeat after defeat even if they don't say so publicly

I note we have an "ar*e and elbow working in perfect harmony" situation. Wanted to get a ticket for the U-23 game at The Vic next Tuesday, but the ticket details have disappeared off our wonderful, all-impressive website.

So, I've enquired with ticket office, and was advised that the game may not now be taking place next Tuesday. Anybody heard anything ???
