I don't, we certainly need to run out Sinclair also, at least give them a run off the sub's bench. These next two matches are very close, and the more players we can use, the better.
Interesting that our only period of decent play in the game was right at the end with Sinclair and Mason on the pitch. Scoring from a free kick won by Sinclair! His movement was sharp and direct it was refreshing
Agreed, but I doubt he will ever get another chance except perhaps in the cup games whilst this clown is in charge.
Our midfield hasn't been competitive since the clocks went back and it got colder. Like daffodils they looked pretty early in the season and have since disappeared.
God knows what Kewell is doing with the U23's they must be so demoralised Continually being beaten can't be good for them
Theres a Watford fan on twitter who always flies off the handle when people criticise Kewell and starts saying "youth football isn't about results!!"... as if losing by 3 or 4 every week isn't going to have negative consequences
Andy Yiadom doing rather well at Barnsley after impressing at Barnet. Well done to the lad. Even made the preliminary Ghana ACON squad.
I am one of those people who follow their results a bit and actually cannot remember one! Think they had a few at the start of the season.
U23s 4-0 down on 39 minutes at Ipswich. Do we still think it's all about the development of the players, or is losing so many games worthy of some pelters for Mr Kewell?
Your post leads me to remember the 'At Our Place' event. I recall Filipo Giraldi's comments on the U23 system; he doesn't believe it to be sufficiently competitive, and development of young players is aided much greater with the players going out on loan to clubs in Leagues One and Two (where he states they would be playing against men, rather than 'boys', and would therefore be more challenging). So in response to your post, development is still important to the club, but the current development system is insufficient, and therefore a poor record in the U23 league is probably largely overlooked by Gino.
We've sent many of our decent players out on loan, and results were bad enough even before that. So great shock I guess. Surely it can't carry on like this? It's pointless send out our youngsters to get beaten every time
To be honest, I think this is probably viewed as a fairly strong U23 line up #watfordfc U23 XI v Ipswich: Gartside (GK), Eleftheriou, Mason, Stewart (c), Ryan, Rowan, Dja Djedje, Ovenden, Lewis, Obi, Pereira. Folivi and Jakubiak the only noticeable omissions I can think of (due to loans)
It's got to be worth more thought than this though. Bring up a team that can play together for a few years successfully as they grow up (even if some of the youngsters are imports) and breed a winning environment for them. It's the one part of our long term plan I think they overlook, and would love to see it improve in the future.
Being out on loan doesn't prevent you from playing for your parent club's U23 team, I don't believe. After all, Dennon Lewis is on loan at Woking.
Yes, I noticed Lewis' name there too however I do think the reason Jakubiak and Folivi aren't playing is because they are on loan. Potentially different agreements with different clubs in regards to training, etc
I'm making a note of all you people NOT slagging off Harry Kewell and will post names when he wins two games along with a 'told you so'.
