Without Deeney, I just can't see us getting near auto promotion. Someone convince me we would be ok still, as I need to feel better.

We've always been fine in the past and we will again if he goes which I suspect he won't. We also have one of the finest scouting networks in the world and I'm sure there is another in the pipeline if he was to go. We are not going to struggle to get promoted just because Troy Deeney leaves.

I'm sure we could turn to Troy and say look, we have you a chance lastu year now give us a chance this year if it doesn't work out and we don't get promoted you can leave.

He's going to have a better year than last i reckon and he's gonna be even more valuable come the end of the season.

    Do you trust the Pozzos?

    I do.

Whatever happens will only benefit the club, if he's sold...which I doubt will happen, it will be for the right price and we still have around 3 weeks to find a replacement if one hasn't been lined up already.

Just relax people, I can only see pozzotives here.

why would he leave? He is under contract so surely we hold the aces???? if a silly offer came in then we would have to think about it i guess, but I have no doubt that he would be replaced by better if he did go, after all the aim is promotion.. There will be lots of transfer speculation about anyone who plays well for Watford this season - after all we are in the spotlight now!!

Surely the point is that he won't be sold for less than 10 million right now. If they hold him until Summer after he's scored another 20 he will be worth 15 mill which is awesome plus we may well be Prem.

my main worries about losing troy deeney are:
    - his homegrown status
    - his presence in the changing room

People should really not be concerned by these Deeney rumours. The club hold all the aces.

Of course, every player has his price, but the price on Deeney's head would now be enormous because of what he means to the club. He is an integral part of the team, Deeney does not want to leave and Watford do not want to sell, so that's a pretty big hands off message to any bidder.

I cannot see any club, even Spurs, offering £15m for Deeney, and believe me this is the figure the club would be looking for. Gayle £8.5m from League One, Zaha £15m etc, so the bar has been set from previous dealings with other clubs.

As I said, Watford hold all the aces and no longer need to sell their best players. Deeney will be sold if his valuation is met, but that valuation is so high I do not think anyone would even offer half the amount.

He won't go to Spurs, They are in a far higher market than Deeney. If he goes, which I doubt, it would be somebody like Fulham or Stoke.

If he does go, which I don't think he will, it certainly won't be to Spurs. No offence to Troy but they are in the market for completely different types of strikers.

I never understand why people say things like this. As if just because they're a big club, smaller clubs just have to accept an offer.

Agreed but if they were offering 10x his salary and we refused we could have a very unhappy player on our hands

If he goes it will be in January when some clubs get desperate and offer silly money.

Surely the Pozzos won't sell an up and coming talent for a poxy £5m? That's not their business model is it?

They'll hold on to him until January, or until he scores 30+ this season and we can get £10+ for him. £5m+ profit in 1 year is good business.

Also, if we go up this year as is the "plan", then surely keeping hold of a free player on ok wages (give or take a generous prem increase) is much better than selling him for £5m and having to spend £10m+ on a decent striker next year on stoopid wages?

Makes no sense (unless he wants to leave of course!).

We are owned by probably the shrewdest owners in world football, especially when it comes to football transfers. They hold all the cards when it comes to Deeney as he's just signed a 3 year deal.

We don't want to sell and Deeney does not want to leave, so there is not going to be any deal here.....certainly not in this window. The only way that would possibly change is if a big club like Spurs come in with an enormous offer which makes the club think twice.....at the end of the day every player has his price.

Right now, Deeney is ever improving, but is he worth a premium price? I would say it's unlikely anyone would make an offer that would tempt Watford to sell.
