Baz cant do anything at the weekends as his daughter is more important to be with! Official Bassini coment on the reason for selling the club.

Hopefully the deal is being done as we speak and a bit like last week we only want to hear official speak from either the club, the Bondholders (if they are running the show as vendor) or the Pozzo's. Silence is hopefully golden. I for one have had enough of either baz's outbursts or people pressing to have a running commentary on what one imagines is a very delicate situation with legal ramifications, many £millions involved, thousands of expectant fans and a manager/players probably as confused as us

Its also very hard to follow all the various threads for updates but i guess that's Admins gain !

The fact that they finished late last night indicates that the negotiations don't wait for anybody.

Even if they want to work at the weekend - accountants, lawyers, solicitors and their offices don't. Most of the people involved in this takeover do alot of big bussiness - if they didnt take a break because something was important they would never take a break.

They don't work weekends for us mere mortals but when multi million pounds deals and the commission that comes with them are at stake most of those people would sell their own mothers to work on it.

    This.

Why would they risk having a weekend off and potentially miss out on a big, big payout to their company?

I really, really don't think they would have stopped everything just because it's the weekend, especially seeing as we are apparently at the latter stages of negotiations.

    Layton's right.

From Ashcroft's point of view, this is £7.5m that he is likely to see one way or another. As for the Pozzos, we are an attractive prospect because of our price (even €20m isn't that much to acquire a Championship club near London with a top academy, and pay off its debts). But it's not do-or-die.

All I'm saying is that to suggest lawyers and accountants don't work weekends so everything has to grind to a halt because of that is pointing the blame in the wrong direction and pretty naive. Pop along to the City and you'll find heaps of people who wouldn't know what a weekend was if it jumped up and slapped them in the face. That said I doubt much has advanced this weekend as I expect the Pozzo representatives have other things to deal with.

Haha I've been very busy this weekend actually, as I've just moved home from uni. Bit surprised at that jibe there, but you have never really been known for intelligent and insightful posts as such, so I guess it's to be expected.

Hopefully this is done by this time next week (at the v latest) so that the club can start moving forward with transfer targets! COYH!

Most corporate Lawyers/Accountants do work weekends. My family is full of them and they're constantly on call.

I'm not waiting. It'll happen when it happens. I was just pointing out that lm's idea that the professionals involved don't work weekends is wrong.

A huge M&A deal would be worked on over a weekend but it's not likely ours would be. In the grand scheme of things it's quite small.

    Isn't there!

Anyway the real reason it's not been concluded is because the deal all hinges on tonights result.....

If Italy win, there will be a press conference at 10PM tonight, all lawyers in attendance (serious amounts of Happy egg on Laytons face if it happens)

So the deal is on then

Obviously with extra time and penos they knocked the 10pm conference on the head. Sometime today surely....

Observer Owl pretty much saying that Bassini is no longer a significant factor.

‏@twentyninth: So the news on Friday was just some sort of hissy fit from Bassini?

@Observer_Owl: Yes. Plus I reckon he was trying to apply pressure on Pozzos but that could have backfired massively
