Can't belive I have lost interest.

After being a regular at Watford since 1977 I cannot believe I how I have totally lost interest in renewing my families season tickets. The first part of the season was one of the most enjoyable and most entertaining for many years. But the decline of the performances, the way the club let QPR takeover the home seating areas and the non-existent communication from the new owners have worn me down. I just cannot be bothered any more, does anyone else feel the same ?

  2. Nope

Of course I'm worried about the new owners. Of course I'm worried about next season.

But i'll still support the club, and i'll still go to games.

You feel the same way I did in the tail end of the Simpson/Boothroyd era.

Edit: why on earth is F.A.G censored?

I'm not renewing - my passion went last season, but only noticed it at the end of this season.

Not a poor show at all, everyone is different in their support. I know plenty of people who know everything about the club but very rarely go to games for a variety of reasons.

I don't know if it is an age thing but I am also struggling with football. I am 27 but have been getting slowly tired of football generally for a few years where as blokes I know who are 22/23 are still getting hard on's about how great the Prem is but it just feels so sterile to me now. It is nothing to do with WFC but football generally, if anything WFC are bucking the trend to an extent.

At the moment I go to every home game and a fair few away games each year, and a couple of games at Leighton Town each season. In 20 years time I would imagine most Saturday's will be spent watching grass roots like Leighton Town and I will just go to a few WFC games a season just to keep my toe in. I will always be a Watford fan until the day I snuff it, but the more football becomes a business the tougher it is to feel part of it.

In many ways I feel the same. My passion started to go after the Premiership season, but never like this. When we have things like the club's handling of the QPR game, steward 143, stewards at places like Crystal Palace and Leeds that treat you like criminals as soon as you enter the ground and the fact that the best any football fan who doesn't support Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City or Spurs can even dare to dream of is a fluky 7th place in the Premiership followed by a UEFA Cup tie against a Siberian reserve team, that's when the result starts to seem less important to me.

I will renew next season because of the clubs sensible pricing and the fact it's the last year I can get a student season ticket, but unless the whole matchday experience changes next season and I start going to football again feeling that I want to be there rather than I have nothing better to do, I doubt I will buy another season ticket.

I just get fed up hearing that we should buy a left back, we should build the SW corner, we should lay a new pitch. How do people expect them to do this if they do not put money in?

There is nothing better than the feeling of going to the ground with my 5 year old boy, knowing he loves football as much as me and that we support a team where I can afford to take him. OK, the club haven't done everything perfectly this season (nothing happened to Millwall throwing things into the family section where we sit and the QPR fiasco), but show me a club that is perfect. They do so many other good things that it makes me proud. If I didn't renew our season tickets, he would only see the Prem games on TV and would end up an Arsenal fan.

That is why I think it is a poor show.

Also, I too have been to other games like you go to Leighton, but I don't understand how you can get into it. It's just not the Orns.

When I go to a local club such as Leighton Town, Barton, Dunstable, Hemel etc. I don't get into it to the extent of caring about the result like I do when I watch Watford, but it is great to watch players play like they want to win and they care, crunching tackles without the need for diving etc. It feels like proper football.

As others have said, I think it is also my general disenchantment with the “popular” game. That is the top few teams and their overpaid brats that the media shove down our thoughts. Watford was still a place to watch and enjoy real football at a club that cared. I am still a supporter, I just do not know if I value the time and money spent on season tickets and away games more than other things I could be doing. I have been in email exchanges with the club following the QPR debacle and they have fed me a load of bull and conflicting information that does not help. When the deadline looms I may well change my mind, but at the moment I am totally turned off.

I hate the football industry, but love football.

I've noticed over the last few years that I'm only interested in Prem matches when it's good (Blackpool, Bolton, Wolves, Arsenal, Spurs, not many others) against evil (most of the rest, especially the Mancs, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham since Tevez and Blackburn since the chicken folk took over).

No diminution in my enthusiasm for Watford matches, and I guess if I could survive Petchey I can survive Bas and the knee bloke.

i lost the passion for supporting the club when the wfc fans booed when wfc were top of the league - like we are a big club and win loads of things and always play in europe. I do not care if wfc win lose or draw and get a kick seeing the angry canuts f'ing and blinding and abusing all and everyone when the orns do lose... uckin idiots - get an uckin life.

wfc fans in general ( certainly not all of them, there are many who are great supporters) are or have become brain dead scum who have no clue or idea what they want from their footie club but are actually happy at being able to moan and groan at everything the club try and do.

was also put off by the venom of the observer and in particular A Fleck and Ollie P.

Most fans wanted anyone else but GS - fine- no problem with that - have to laugh at the Bruvs attempt at running the club and bringing it to its knees by way of immediate loan repayment demands and now BBB - who i have no comment on until he actually does something adverse to the club..

Moving from the Vic is not an adverse step IM0 - if that was to happen - it could be deemed a REAL new beginning.

The Stewarding at footie has also had a huge and significant play in my decision not to attend matches this season.

The cost is not a factor as although prices seem quite high and are compared to other entertainment - footie has been a big part of my life for 40 years.

Going to watch matches in the winter - this is an age thing now I can't be arsed - if i do it will be a weekender away in a nice hotel and some comfort.. its too bloody wet and cold.

No pre season tour - i lose interest from day one as i liek the pre season tour - gets my enthusiasm for the season going...

Getting to WFC - becoming a lot more difficult for many who go by rail from London and through London.. I was travelling maybe 4 hours for a home match - from Plaistow - bollix to that.

The best supporters of wfc are actually in the matchday shoutbox! FACT! innit Moogy and KJ? We see everything very clearly...

Yes I do. For me personally it was the wonderful woman in the ticket office who treated me like some sort of benefit fiddling criminal when I tried to buy a few £1 kids tickets for me and a few friends at the same time.

However bored I am of football, the reassuring times are when we are away at Barnsley on a freezing November afternoon - you know then that the people around you are all in the same boat and they really do love the club (that isn't to say the ones that aren't there don't love the club).

The time I got really p*ssed off was in the Prem when I tried getting tickets for away games but couldn't - yet I was the mug who was doing the Barnsley's etc. with only 500 or so others. The demographic of the fan base is changing unfortunately and not for the better.

Not bored as such but it is sad and sums up the modern game when your more worried about long will the club survie/willw e be able to progress as a club rather than just the result each Saturday which used to be the case in the past.

I do watch games on the telly but as a passing interest or if there is nothing better to do.

For me there are many reasons for not renewing, most of which have been mentioned already.

    Stewarding
Average footballers earning money way beyond what they deserve
Modern football as a whole has gone up it's own arse and it's slowing dying
    Dumb as fark supporters
    Cost

But.....how will I feel when the season starts and I haven't got a season ticket?

I went to Barnsley, but I've got nothing but contempt for the club - I'm a bundle of engimatic contradictions me

I only went because it gave me an excuse to go to the Sheffield Tap

Who gives a **** anyway? If Watford disappeared tomorrow then the club could restart in the Hellenic League or something - that would be bloody brilliant

Its not though , It just isnt. Its been a great season for us we was expected to be relegated by most people this season but we have finished in a highly respectful position and relegation was never a threat throughout the season , Yes of course everything at the Vic isnt always perfect, But seriously Watford is a real football Club an old traditional English club for the local people, unlike United or Chelsea etc.... Watford pride themselves on bringing in young local lads. Personally I am proud to support a proper football club.

Didnt renew my season ticket the season after Rodgers left. Just got so BORED of watching them play. No atmosphere, shytest football i have ever seen at the vic, no passion on any level. Many better things to be doing on a weekend. (comments relate to the seasons after we got relegated, i know its changed around a bit now).

Still love the club and will support them my whole life, but at the minute, i just cant be bothered.

Yes I am also proud to support Watford and I will be renewing without doubt, I am growing frustrated with the game as a whole - if anything it is still nice to see Watford bucking the trend and bringing through kids but everything at the top of the game is so bloody corrupt that it is killing the game. You only need to look at Qatar getting the world cup to realise how ridiculous the whole game has become and unfortunately it will filter down.

WFC is great and has given me years of fun supporting them and no doubt many more years to come, but football is dying on it's ass.

Football in general hacks me off right now and it's not the first time.
It's no longer a sport but a means to make money, big money, and the behaviour of all concerned is affected because of this.

The constant cheating by players is something I won't rant about again, it's as boring for me to write as I'm sure it is for anyone reading.
The bending and manipulation of the laws/rules means too much attention given to lawyers and officials instead of the 22 players on the pitch.
The more wealthy clubs/businesses getting their way more often than not because of their voting and financial clout within the English game.
    Referees becoming personalities.
    Broadcasters overhyping to the maximum.
Failed managers claiming to know better than those currenty in a job.
Banal views of so-called experts on the TV and radio who spout absolutely nothing new, cliche after cliche (no, not Clichy after Clichy!)
The over reaction to an average goal by a Premier League 'superstar' while a wonder goal by the right back at Southend is ignored.
The mind boggling self importance shown by so many involved with football.

Mostly it's the cheating, crooked, bent, snide and dishonesty shown by a huge amount of players, managers and coaches who protest their innocence at every opportunity yet are so two-faced they accuse their fellow professionals of exactly what they themselves expect to get away with.

Not going along to games anymore does not mean you have stopped being a supporter, and to think so is very narrow minded in my opinion. There are thousands of people that are equally as passionate about the club but don't go to games.

  31. FromDiv4

If I didn’t care, there have been many better reasons why I would have stopped going to Watford from owners and managers to relegation to Div2. For some reason they never stopped me wanting to go to games. Maybe the QPR incidents and the lies I have received during my correspondents with the club about them have just been the final straw. I think it is more my view of the general game as laid out by oxhey67 that is getting to me. My love of Watford let me ignore those issues, but recent events are just highlighting them.
