How many times have you seen him play?

At the moment he's not quite ready, he could probably do with playing vs Barnet, probably off the bench and then go on loan to a L2 club or even a top conference club.

He's got good pace and strength and is getting better at his overall game. His timing of runs needs working on and with time, which he needs, then he could be a decent player for us. Malky Mackay also seems to have been impressed by him, here's a quote:

"Marvin is someone who has really stepped up this year to the plate and has been one of the leaders, as far as I'm concerned for the reserves" said Mackay.

"He's applied himself every week, his talent has come through, he scores goals and causes central defenders problems.

"Marvin has added things to his own game by bringing people into play. His movement and tracking back has improved as has his physical impact, which I'm now seeing in his game as well as the goals. He now has to put it together on a consistent basis, because consistency is the key.

"I'm delighted for him, the way he's acting and applying himself. He got some nice comments from the manager, for a youngster like that to catch the manager's eye; he's got to be happy with that. But it's just the start, it's just a glimmer, he's got to continue applying himself like that."

That was from October last year.

EDIT: Forgot to mention his scoring record. He scored 17 goals in 32 starts last season.

Here's what I said about him on my Reserve review post:

"Always impressed when played and is a goalscoring winger who is also a good crosser of the ball. Been injured for a while so will be hoping for a better campaign this season where hopefully he'll get a good loan move to further his development."

Looks to have good potential and like Sordell will hopefully be in the squad vs Barnet then go out on loan.

Also sorry, I don't know what injurys he's had but he has been out for most of the season, he was only able to 14 games but still managed 4 goals.

I've seen enough of him to know that if Theo couldn't make it here then he doesn't have a hope in hell, his technique is poor, he's clumbsy, lacks agility and any particular skill. And to be honest, I'll say and think what I want, if I think he's crap and won't make it here I have every right to say it.

Remember we picked up Robinson at the Football League Exit trials and ended up selling him for near 300k. If Sordell gives us the same return I don't think we can complain.

Surely we need him. We are in a way lacking proper strikers, unless we get one in on loan, and nak please don't mention Liam Henderson ;)

Nak u do talk utter rubbish...why play him in pre season friendlies then..."loan him out for experience". Surely we want to play players who might actually start and play a part in our CCC season?....stick to cut and paste son!

I thought by proper you meant players who play strikers as their natural position but I see your point.

    Barnet isn't a pre-season friendly, it's a carling cup game.

Nak's a good lad, and probably knows a hell of a lot more about Watford reserves/youth players than everyone else put together.

I wish Nak was my father.

I thought it was common knowledge that pre-season is a perfect time to give young players a taste at playing with the first team squad. Although it's irrelevant because as Nak pointed out, Barnet isn't a pre-season friendly.....

I think this lad might even start at Swansea today? Especially if Danny does not recover.

I have not seen him play yet, but I believe he has a good scoring record for the youth team and the reserves. I've only seen the goal he scored at Leeds and that was on the box, but from what I saw he looks pretty strong and he took the goal well.

Could he be the reason we decided to let Theo go? Maybe he is thought to have better potential than Theo?

I have a good feeling about this lad, lets hope he does another Ashley Young and really makes an impact on the team? God knows we could do with a bit of a miracle right now, and maybe this lad could be it :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

I think that Malky might opt for a 4 - 5 - 1. Harley, Jenks, Cleverly, Severin, Cowie. But all remains to be seen and I do hope that Sordell has the ability and confidence to make the step up if we do not make any more signings.

can see him coming off the bench for a while till he develops more.

I think youmiht be right about being the reason we let Theo go. They may have decided that we can only take one young striker in the squad

I think he could do well, still has a lot to work on I feel.

He seems to have really improved his game from last season though so he may be up to it, at least from the bench.

He's got pace and strength but sometimes the other parts of his game seemed a little lacking at times last season, his timing of runs was quite frustrating although I would say overall he didn't always get the chance to show off his skill on the ball.

He could do but he has to have a good attitude and work hard at his game if he wants to make it in the big time.

It's good to have physical attributes but to take him to the next level he'll need the technical ones as well and he seems to be developing nicely so it will be interesting to see how he does.

Certaintly has the potential, just a little rough at the moment but seems to be making great strides this season.
