...although says we may change as season progresses. Am a little dissapointed with this as I would prefer 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3, but heck what do I know compared to Zola so Ill just shut up and enjoy what the little genius has got in store for us. Frank asks Zola... "If Vydra does remain next season, there must surely be a temptation to find a system which accommodates the Czech Republic striker, Forestieri and Troy Deeney. “I will consider it,” Zola responded. “I wouldn’t like to stick with one system. I would like to know how I will start the season and what I want to do but like last year, I started with 4-3-3 and I felt there was a need to make some tactical changes to give balance to the team. I will consider doing that again. “We will maybe start with the system we played this season but we will have the possibility to change to other systems and we will work during the summer to make sure we can do that.” Full article here http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10482185._I_cannot_recall_an_experience_like_this_/
The key is to have players who are capable of switching and fitting in to different formations depending on the opponents.
Anything but a flat back four and I'm happy .... an outright 3-4-3 would be God if we have the players to do it.
Typically refreshing and honest from GZ Also answers the question so many asked about his half time substitution of Vydra. There is always a reason and one that we all may not be aware of. So, why so many doubters?
Echos what I mentioned in another thread - the ability for us to adapt is key. When we lost last year, it was often as we weren't "allowed" to play our brand of football (Wembley is a great example of this) and there really wasn't a plan B. Not a huge criticism, as for the most part the football and results were excellent last year. But I think ironing this out will put us in a great position to turn some of those losses into wins and get us over the hump that we only just missed this time around.
Has to be said that we suffered some incredible bad luck at both our attempts at promotion. 2 keepers injured against Leeds and 2 main strikers injured in lead up to final. FL must have been chuckling themselves about that
Its a formation that we were comfortable with and it'd be silly to start fresh again next season if we keep the core players. We do need to work on the 4-3-3/3-4-3 options though for next season just as an option.
