Safety is all but assured. What would be your squad for next season ? Ins and outs. Bear in mind BR wants a 23 man first team squad. GK Scott Loach GK Ben Alnwick GK Bohond Antal DF Jay Demerit DF Craig Cathcart DF Mike Williamson (c) DF Eddie Oshodi DF Lloyd Doyley DF Adrian Mariappa DF Lee Hodson DF Kieran Gibbs DF Sam Hutchinson+ MF Nicky Bailey+ MF Velice Sumilkovski+ MF Ross Jenkins MF Tommy Smith MF Alexandrs Cauna+ MF Jobi McAnuff MF Don Cowie MF Henri Lansbury/ Miroslav Stoch or Billy Gibson FW Gregorz Rasiak+ (wage cut required) FW Will Hoskins FW Tamas Priskin FW Theo Robinson + signed bold = loanee Out: Poom, Bromby, Ellington, Lee Williamson, O'Toole, Eustace, Sadler, Harley, Searle, Williams
I fail to see why Searle would go. He's got another year on his contract after this one and is Rodgers' man. I also think like him or loathe him young John-Joe will be back.
You're the first to reply wfc-4ever. I never visited that particular area. If it's the right place for it I trust the band of admins will move it there.
Its not in the footbal manager section as this has nothing to do with the game but rather the real life team!
I know but i don't think you can pick out loan signings and permanent signings for next season. I know that yellow yoda is BR but he is keeping it quiet by not posting anymore
Probably true. UEA . Don't think he should have been signed on . This is my twenty three man squad choices for next season. I would ship him out and get in Alnwick in (he is behind Gomes and Cudicini at present ,though Gomes looks to be in a precarious position judging from Harry's travels around Europe).
Alnwick has looked ait shaky when I've seen him play and I would rather get someone experienced as a goalie.
Which of your squad are you going to remove to make it a true 23 man squad or did you mean to say the BR wants 24 players next season?
Finally got round to doing it although I haven't done any transfers in. GK: Loach GK: Lee GK: Searle DF: Mariappa DF: Hodson DF: Doyley DF: Parkes DF: DeMerit DF: M.Williamson DF: Oshodi DF: Stepanov MF: McAnuff MF: Smith MF: Cowie MF: Cauna MF: Jenkins MF: Kiernan MF: Rose ST: Priskin ST: Rasiak ST: Robinson ST: Henderson Out: Poom Hoyte Sadler Cork Eustace L.Williamson Harley Kabba Bangura Hoskins Williams O'Toole Young Bennett Loan: Gibson Sordell Antal
Cork- I haven't been overly impressed with him although I wouldn't mind seeing him back but I'm not too bothered either way. Harley- Don't rate him, poor attacking as a winger and is a poor defender. Young- Turns out he and Bennett are staying which isn't too bad but my reasoning was I didn't think they would be staying but now it turns that they are then I would bring them back, Young has looked inconsistent but if Rodgers can develop him and bring out his obvious potential then that would be great and with Bennett going out on loan to Kettering and Rodgers seeming to hint that he was leaving at the fans forum then I presumed he would be gone but he like Hendo and Young has some potential and hopefully he can come good.
I don't agree with your views r.e. Cork. I think he's jaded at the moment. He was fantastic for Saints, and he was brilliant for us up until the last few weeks...probably fatigue. I think Jenko is the same...both look cream crackered to me! Don't forget, Cork is still only 19. He'll only get better. I'd be delighted if we managed to get him in next season. Harley is probably earning a fair whack. If all of our players gave as much effort as JH, we'd have been looking at more of a play-off position than a relegation position. If he was willing to take a pay-cut, then I think he's worth keeping. Natural left-footed player, can play at the back or in midfield. He's versatile, hence worth keeping. Not really seen Lewis Young or Dale Bennett play before. From reports i've heard, Bennett sounds like a decent, pacey versatile defender. Can play anywhere in the back four. He's still only young, he's captained the youth team if i'm not mistaken? I'd like to see him loaned out to League One next year, and see what he can do. Lewis sounds very similar to Ash, in respect that he's lightweight, inconsistent, but definately has natural ability. We nearly made a fatal error in letting Ash go at an early age, let's keep Lewis, and like Bennett, let's loan him out to League One next season, and see how he does.
Cork is player that did start very well for us and if after a long summer then he can get back to that early form then I would definitely want him back but if he is going to carry on the way his then I'm not so sure. Harley can play in defence and midfield but just not very well.
it makes no difference what we all think or want, there are only 2 factors that come in to play 1 - IF anyone takes the players that BR doesn't want. Last year Doyley was on the transfer list and no one came in for him. Just because we/ you may want them gone doesn't mean they will. BR can only replace those he loses 2 - It's who BR wants not the fans
Doyley was on the transfer list? when did that happen? He played regularly and IIRC we rejected a bid from QPR for him.
Harley plays LM very well i think you'll find, works exceptionally hard, capable going back and forward and is probably one of the best crossers of a ball we've got at the club, i doubt he's on huge wages either.
Works quite hard but is quite rash as well. Decent crosser yes but doesn't really offer anything attacking wise, not many goals, no real pace to get past anyone and although he is a solid player he just doesn't offer enough for me when I'm confident that in Cauna we have a better player who can similiarly offer us Hard work whilst Cauna has great crossing ability, great strike, ability to get past his man and is alot younger. I don't paticularly dislike Harley but is nothing more than a solid player who will work hard without really contributing attacking wise.
AB put Doyley on the transfer list last summer along with 4 or 5 others The QPR thing is a myth, they never made an offer
Ideally, I'd like to see today's team (plus players on bench) stay. Obviously thats not going to happen, the only question is can we sign Rasiak and keep our other key players who could be tempted away, mainly, Priskin, Smith & McAnuff.
