That was taken from the late 70s which was when I first started going. Shame the Shroddels wasn't captured there as well.

We have come a long way since then.

I thought originally that it was probably early seventies (when I started going), but there is no evidence of the dog track, so it was either before or after that period.

This shot probably wouldn't have looked much different up to the mid nineties, apart from the seats being added in front of the main stand.

I was thinking the other day, that with our new stand it would be great to get LTFC at home in the cup, just to show them how the paths of our clubs have diverged - then I thought, perhaps not......

It is 1971/72, and the chap in the middle is actor Elliott Sullivan, and he is waiting for Tony Curtis to film a scene for The Persuaders. The scene also included a view of the pitch from, I believe, what during the late seventies/eighties was the press room. There is also a close up scene of Curtis and Sullivan colluding on the pitch with the Obo clock in the background, culminating with Tony Curtis giving the ball a Grid Iron style kick. The episode is called 'Read and Destroy'.

The shot wouldn't have changed a great deal in that time, but more than you'd imagine. There was a lot of development to the left of the Rookery, building new offices and the ancillary exec boxes, which didn't last long, and possibly the most noticeable thing would have been the pitch shifting much closer to the East Stand to allow for the Graham Taylor stand to be built.

Edit: that said, the return of the dog track between 1974 and 1978 would have made quite a difference too. I new the track came and went, but couldn't remember the years. See this article from the Obo: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/nostalgia/memories/10796712.End_of_an_era_for_dog_racing/

No, my life doesn't get any more interesting than this.
