Hi all, hope somebody can help me.

Basically, the disc tray of my Xbox 360 has been playing up.

Whenever I put a disc in the tray, and I mean any disc, DVD, game, Music CD... whatever, I close the tray, the green lights blink a bit, but then it just opens the tray without even looking at the disk. In other words it wont stay shut.

It just wont shut, even when I turn off the XBOX 360 the disc tray will eject again, and then turn off, what the ****?

Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

I wouldn't of thought that putting it back to factory settings will fix it.

Maybe a hardware problem with the DVD drive.

Have you dropped it or anything like that recently?

its the small rubber band that opens the tray. Its dusty and is slipping on the wheel (weird squiky noize you hear). Remove front cover, open tray, take couple of pincers and remove the rubber band. some light is handy. Wash rubber band with alchol or something like it. Let dry. Put rubber band back with pincers. First on small wheel, than on big wheel. Now the problem is gone for a couple of weeks.

Could be a dusty laser as well, can try one of those cleaning discs. Saw one in the poundshop the other day.

Thank you everybody, I'll try and open it up tomorrow to see if I can see the problem.

At Hornmeister, ps3's are expensive, almost double the money of xbox 360's!

    Hahaha the good old days.

Megadrive was probably the best console ever.

Disagree. Going to the shops on a saturday morning with my pocket money to buy a Codemasters £1.99 cassette game for my spectrum was the best.
