    £100M for Grealish?

If they have that sort of money kicking around I'm surprised they haven't gone after Kane or Haaland instead as they would make far more difference to that team.

I don't want City to be good though, so spend away on a rotation option.

I was more surprised that Arsenal paid £50m for a centre back from Brighton...

Just a few years ago that would have bought you 20 Kasper Schmeichels, 20 Jamie Vardys, 20 Riyad Mahrezs and a Youri Tielemans.

Riyad Mahrez is still a better player than him in every single way. It’s ******* mental.

£18M for Gray was a shocker, when you compare, then the £100M for Grealish is top top value.

It’s the homegrown premium, everyone needs a certain amount of homegrown players in the team, so the very top sides like City need to pay over the odds for the very best English players. They can’t afford to be diluting their team with sub-par English players, even if the top ones they do buy aren’t even that good.

If the homegrown rules didn’t exist no way in hell they’d be buying Grealish, they’d be spending the £100m on two or three overseas players that would actually be better.

  9. The answer to all of this is to find the Arabs 'not fit and proper' as owners of a football club in this nation. Which they're not. So bring it on. In fact they're not 'fit and proper' to strut it about on the world stage in any capacity.

More windfarms, less oil. You know it makes sense.

Given that Abu Dhabi have found a way round FFP, have hidden or concealed income they can afford to pay what they like. Guardiola the bald fraud confirming his status as the ultimate cheque book manager. One hundred million for Grealish another fifty on top for Kane and so on. The messiah of football must have spent nearly a billion pounds in his time at the Emptyhad. One billion pounds.

They’ll buy Kane by the end of next week too I reckon. Might offload a couple but it won’t come anywhere near the roughly £250m mark theyll of spent on 2 players.
All this after they should be kicking off the season in league 2 with a massive transfer ban.

He does have the biggest calf muscles in football though. They are so massive, their gravitational pull keeps his shin pads in orbit around them without the need for socks.

Arsenal paying £50 million for White, and Newcastle r3ported to have £22 million for Willock. Massively overpaying for both.

They've sold 50m of players so far already, Bernardo Silva looks likely to leave and will probably fetch another 50-60m or so and I imagine a few more of their loan army will depart. Will probably mean their net spend is gonna be -80m or so this season (if they buy Kane) which I don't think is too unreasonable.

With Messi going to PSG (and all the other great players they’ve brought in) surely there is a good chance they do go for Kane, just from a vanity/keeping up with the joneses point of view?

I'm surprised City didn't at least try to sign Messi.

Great marketing, and even with astronomical wages would be cheaper and still far, far better than Grealish. Especially given they are desperate to win the Champions League.

I think despite the obscene amounts of money they chuck around, City do have some sort of defined transfer policy (Amazon Doc makes that clear) including a certain amount of home grown players. They’ve let Aguero go, so wouldn’t make a lot of sense for them to then sign a 34 year old. City don’t really need the money, their issue is trying to spend it.

I think Pep said they didn't even realise Messi was gonna be available (it all looked like he was signing a new contract until suddenly he wasn't). By that time the Grealish transfer was done and dusted. Think Pep would've preferred Messi + Kane (saving £100m on Grealish in the process) than Grealish and Kane if he could've.

Maybe it’s just me, but they seem to buy 2-3 non-English centre backs, wing backs and/ or wingers for 40-50m a piece, every season.

    Bet he’s very, very annoyed.

Ben White has been superb at every club so far and seamlessly adapted to PL in his first year. I think he's a superb buy. £50m is undoubtedly a lot of money but I think he will prove to be worth every penny and will be a regular for England very soon.

Arsenal have needed to sort themselves out at CB for a number of years now and seem to have finally done it. However, I am quite shocked he wanted to go to Arsenal....I think he would have had his pick of top clubs if he's waited a bit. But I guess Varane and Konate coming to the PL made him think his options might not appear this summer.

Also heard pep acknowledging the £100m transfer fee for grealish by saying it was £40m as they won £60m in prize money. Still doesn’t deter the fact 7 month ago these ****ers tried to leave the league and are facing no penalties. And with psg and city being state owned football is ****ed look how city won their last appearance in court of tribunal.

I suppose Arsenal needed a centre back as they had lost Luiz (their defence was about the best part of the team last year). However they spent £27 million on Saliba, so unless that was a total car crash decision, you would have thought they would have used that £50m on going for Buendia as they lack creativity and saved themselves £12m.

£50m on a player with less than 40 top league games seems extreme to me. Mind you I thought that when they paid more than £200,000 on Alan Ball.

It is interesting how the world has sort of blown up around Grealish especially since he did pretty well in the Euro's. Is he really worth 100M? I do not think he is. Citee have got sacks of cash so it's peanuts to them, he is young
and has talent, nobody is denying that. But I still look at him then think of somebody like Ronaldo, Beckham, Giggs and even our own Sarr - who are just as gifted on a given day. He may peak to soon then go on a massive
decline (a bit like Robbie Fowler did).

Grealish reminds me of Micheal Owen. Like him, he was young, 17 I think he made his Liverpool debut. He set the world alight, scored a stunner in the 1998 World Cup, practically won an FA Cup final on his own, won a
bal'indoor(sp?) at 21. Became Shearer's heir but then had a series of ravaging injuries which ended his career. Grealish may or may not follow suit, but the price tag alone is way overboard imho.

Often taken from other club academies. They are like a vampire on the smaller NW club academies sucking any young blood to the Emptyhad. Hope they go bankrupt.

What a reporter commented think it was on ssn makes sense,
Real leaving it to late in the window but look mbappe we’re prepared to pay €160m for you so just wait until next year and you can come for free and we might be able to pay you a bit more each week.

Let us not forget that Perez was driving the Super League because football in its current guise was ‘unsustainable for the whole pyramid’. Apparently.

Yet a few months removed and his club are bidding £160m for a player they can have for free in 10 months.

I'm not sure what's worse, Madrid bidding for him when he's available on a free in 11 months time (and wants to join Madrid anyway) or PSG turning it down. Lunacy from both clubs.

One of the pillocks on the transfer centre just said “surely it’s every neutral football fan’s dream for PSG to buy Ronaldo to go with Messi and Neymar”.

Yep we sure do want a financially doped club to buy every one of the worlds best players while somehow passing FFP rules.
