What will happen the January window? Will Gino try to actually improve the team or just try to asset strip by selling our crown jewels?
Surely we must be looking at Festy Ebosele now? Has played just 8 mins of league football for Udinese and now with Goslings injury the need for a RB has really kicked up an extra notch.
Seems unlikely we won't. We just brought in a new sporting director (no point bringing him in if we don't want him to find signings for us), and Bilic will be expecting reinforcement.
I think everyone will get excited about Manga, completely ignoring the fact that his boss is still Pozzo who will have to sign off on any deals. Pozzo is without doubt one of the worst recruiters of players in the country so I hope Manga is pretty persuasive, otherwise we're going to have the usual crap window. My dream scenario would be Pozzo signing some Bayat turds, Manga going apoplectic, handing his resignation in by the end of January and then trashing the club in the media afterwards.
I think we will bring in new players, who may well be upgrades on who we already have, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be enough
We are absolutely skint. No signings of any substance. Bayat might get some minor lubricating, but nothing that benefits us unless Pozzo decides to bet the ranch (which will be too big a risk for us anyway).
I think people like this expecting us to buy/spend big might be a tad disappointed! https://mobile.twitter.com/HornWendover/status/1592186748217757697
Unless we sell Sarr or Pedro I think we will be looking towards the loan market. Maybe Festy in, with Ngakia going out on loan. We definitely need a creative midfielder.
Sarr and Pedro are a red herring. As things stand they cover the majority of the 3rd party loans. Sell them and the cash would need to pay down the loans. I think spend this window will depend on whether anything comes of this so called "sale/investment" being discussed.
Ebosele makes sense for every party. Which means it won't happen and we'll be enjoying Kayembe at RB by February
People seem to be under the impression that we can sell Sarr or JP and go on a spending spree. We could sell either one and still be shopping in the loan/free agent market.
We’re fourth and only a handful of points of second. We’re not going to sell JP this window. We’ll only sell Sarr if he has a very good World Cup and someone pays over the odds. I don’t think we’re going to be splashing the cash but I can’t see us giving up on promotion to get £20m or whatever for Sarr this window.
Yes, wasn't he described as promising but very raw and perhaps not ready to be first choice in a promotion chasing side when he was discussed in the summer ?
Hard to say really, I like lots about Ebosele but he's very raw still. I think he'll add an extra dimension in an attacking sense that Ngakia has never really done, but he's not gonna be a game changer to our season. Definitely, but he still ticks most of the boxes
As I've said elsewhere, wouldn't Cedric on loan from Arsenal be preferable? It also seems a highly doable transfer.
Having “moved up” from Soton to Arsenal, wouldn’t he hope to at least stay in the prem if he went out on loan ?
