I don't think they're even 'passable' - the fact that an ageing central midfielder was more solid than them in their favoured position says it all. If we were fine with mid-table then they might be 'passable', but we need to get promoted.
Not heard anything but he's been apparently injury free for a couple of months now and has come nowhere near playing and wasn't even on the bench for our friendly against Arsenal this week. At this point I feel he's a waste of a valuable loan spot that we can instead use on someone who can make a genuine impact. I'd imagine both Bilic and Pozzo would feel the same.
A few good players don't make up for years of dreadful recruitment resulting in two relegations and a dire financial situation. But keep clapping buddy.

So when the owners took over we were in the Championship, with two relegations we must now be in Div2? Your other points may be valid, but the relegations do not emphasis your view.

That would strike me as strange, it's not as if he's been rubbish in the fleeting moments we have seen him, he's no worse than the mediocre options we have at the back and yet he's supposedly not injured, but not getting a look-in...some sort of bust-up with Bilic perhaps?

7 starts the season before, and the season before that he made the most appearances of his entire Villa career with 17 starts and one sub appearance in the league, so I think it's fair to say he's not got much hope of breaking into the Villa first team if he were to return!
Bilic just made it pretty clear we're working on having another midfielder in addition to Kone to be here as soon as the window starts - and that the club is actively working on a deal. Wouldn't surprise me if was indeed Hughes.
I still can't think of a good reason why his opinion of the club would have changed. I'm sure there would be other clubs of a similar calibre interested.

Giaretta moving into the background and us bringing in some proper people in his place might be a good reason for his opinion of the club to change! Besides, there might be other clubs interested (there damn well should be considering his record at this level), but if he still lives around here, that might give us a leg up
We do not really know 100% the circumstances around his departure, but it's obvious contract negotiations broke down/agent pushing one way, club the other/wanting PL football. He hasn't spent much time on the pitch at Palarse and must of made an arse groove on the bench by now. I still rate him as a great player and would welcome him back. However, I feel he left under a dark cloud (whatever reason that may of been) - and it would take a big lure from the club to even tempt him back. But I do agree his living arrangements does make us a nice "goto" club close to home. He played for the shirt - and is miles better than Kayembe.
Maybe it was some of the personnel that he couldn't bear to work with, I'll let you fellas debate which ones.
