OK my first attempt at this.

I knew it was going to be a bad day because at 5:00 things went pear-shaped at work. Being my first evening match of the season I had planned in detail, travel from work to the ground and estimated that I needed to leave at 5:00 to ensure time for a swft pint and getting into the ground in time for kickoff.
Rushing around trying to get everything finished I made it, and my brother and I escaped at 5:30.

A brisk walk to Moorgate station occasionally interrupted by the odd free newspaper thrust in my face provided some execrcise and fresh air. The Chicken Katsu Curry I had for lunch was slightly unsettled in my sotmach and I started to worry that the cold I've been fighting for the past week or so was ready to break.

Waiting on the platform we met up with the auditors who are making my brothers life a pain in the bum at work at the moment. Joy of joys they were getting on the same jam packed sardine tin of a Metropolitain line train.

Luckilly it was an "express" train and we would pick up a few minutes before eventually changing at Moor Park for a tube terminating at Watford. Small talk with the auditors was made until it was possible to possition other passengers between us, rendering conversation impossible.

Moor park came up quickly but I realised that that pint I had been looking forward to all day wasn't going to happen, drinking friend duly notified by text message. Mental note made to leave extra drinking time for Everton by way of compensation.

After what seemed like months waiting for the Watford train at Moor Park it arrived and a swift journey on to Watford was made.

Another brisk walk, this time to the stadium diverting from the original plan of a Wetherspoons pint and we arrived with 20 mins to spare. Just enough time to pop into the shop and then wait outside the Rookery turnstiles for my brothers friend and our tickets to arrive.

I think HornetteCarly walked past me and I wondered how many other MB users I may see today without knowing it. Friend and tickets arrived and supprising for a midweek game, it was a fairly swift and painless process in gaining entry. Just enough time for a drink and a hot dog unfortunately it was lager ergh!:dismay: but when needs must.:(

Not a lot to say about the game:rant: . I had quite possibly the worlds greatest authority on football and his mate sitting behind me. He obviously suffered from tourettes or was completely oblivious to the young family sitting next to him. I began to realise why the owner of the season ticket book I had borrowed was not too fussed about making use of it.

I thought we did well for the first 15 mins, when Ben got injured I remembered why I quite enjoyed listening to the match at home with a few beers and talking rubbish on the shoutbox, to settle my nerves.

Shouted quite a bit, lost my voice but apart from Saint & Greavsie behind me, the rest of that area of the Rookery was quite quiet. Top marks to the people at the back in the middle who repeatedly tried to inject some life into an otherwise limp display on the pitch.

For the first time ever I did not stay to clap the players off the pitch. I felt that apart from a couple of exceptions a lack of effort would be rewarded with a lack of effort. Exiting the ground was painless and I am glad that the match only cost me a beer and a pie to attend.

Apologies that the vast majority of this is build up to the match but to be fair thoughts and feelings afterwards would have resulted in a string of :sign3:

Good write up. Have to agree about Moor Park station. The trains to Watford are completely out of step with the fast trains to Amersham, always a long wait there.

I always wonder the same thing when I'm surrounded by thousands of other Watford, how many forum regulars have I just walked past not knowing who they were?
