Same here, I thought the same as UEA said earlier that even STH would have to pay aswell...one question though...

What has Voucher A been used for already?

I'm really not impressed with this. Spent two hours getting soaked in the original match and then they want more money when the match wasn't completed. I won't be going to the re arranged match.

Being a carp weatherman you hadn't forecast monsoon rainfall in Watford. You weather people are useless and overpaid and desrve a soaking. Had you given the correct weather we all would off stayed at home in the dry and the problem that has arisen about paying again for the re arranged game wouldn't have been a problem.

Hope your roof leaks whilst sitting at home listening to lootown on 3cr.

    Blame the weathermen and Canada.

As a STH I believe we should ALL pay just enough to cover the costs (maybe a bit more is we get a decent ref !!).

This game could be police free - or very minimal policing to keep costs down. Wigan will bring 400 max.

Whoops - I forgot we got Cudey to keep an eye on, bring in the armed forces. Bush send the 20,000 troops to the Vic - we'll post a picture of Bin Cudey all over WFC, your army is sure to find him - NOT.

I'm not sure just what people want sometimes. TORRO had a tornado watch out for this area and damage has been reported all the way from Berkshire to Norfolk (See here for the archived warning) and the Met Office did have warnings out for strong winds and heavy rain (See here for the archived warnings). So it was forecast if you had looked at the forecasts.

No matter what people think neither myself or Sir Michael can control the weather...

Even worse by the looks of it - there's two of you getting it wrong.

    Charge everyone a Fiver

I'm a season ticket holder, but I think it would be better to charge EVERYBODY a fiver to get in, as the club will have costs to cover for the night!!!

That would probably be a fairer solution and I think the club may well be better off financially if they were to do that, as I doubt many of the casual supporters that bought tickets for the original game will bother to come again if they have to pay a tenner :( :( :(

It's not just the money to get in though is it. There is travel, food, alcohol, gambling, program, harrys 50/50 etc.

So what may be considered as "free" is in fact an extra £50 plus:) :)

But if anyone has any feelings of guilt they can easily make a donation to the club.

    Ticket move angers fans
    By Anthony Matthews
    Comment

THERE has been an angry reaction from some fans after Watford revealed that supporters who bought a ticket for the abandoned Wigan game will have to pay again to watch the rescheduled fixture, even though admission will be half price.

Following Wednesday's confirmation of the ticket arrangements for the new clash with the Latics, a number of messages were posted on the Watford Mailing List, with one correspondent branding the decision "truly idiotic" because it "picks the pockets of the fans who were there for the first game" another called it a public relations "**** up".

However, some subsequent postings supported the Hornets, who will not be offering refunds to supporters unable to attend the rescheduled match on Wednesday, February 21, while a club statement explained the decision was based on "sound business logic" to cover the behind the scenes costs of staging the game after the original fixture was called off on December 30.

Watford fan Mike Smart wrote to the Watford Observer following the announcement and said: "I bought tickets for me, my son and my daughter, costing £50 altogether. Living in Birmingham, I am obviously not going to bring my children on a 200-mile round trip on a school night. The club's decision is that no refunds will be given.

"I would probably be able to attend the game myself, and would shell out £25 for petrol (in addition to the £25 already spent on petrol the first time round). But to be asked for a further tenner is simply beyond belief.

"The simple facts here are that I paid for a product, i.e. a bona fide Premiership football match, and I didn't get one. The tickets themselves state: This ticket is valid for the date shown or any re-arranged date. Refunds will be allowed only in the event of a game having to be re-arranged and provided that the ticket is returned to the ticket office 24 hours prior to the revised kick-off'."

He continued: "This decision is more farcical than the conditions the lads were playing in. That the club has the audacity to label this an offer' is a clear indication of the regard they have for me and others like me, and their estimation of our intelligence.

"Four years ago, this club desperately needed my support and that of others like me. I was there as much as I possibly could be. And while they are positively swimming in money at the moment (with possibly a further £9m to fall into their laps this weekend), one day they might need me again.

"Can I afford a further tenner? Yes, I could probably find it. But I'm not going to. Not for people who put the £50k-ish they stand to gain from this before their relationship with the fans."

Another supporter, who is a season-ticket holder but asked not to be named, wrote: "I heard people coming out of the game against Wigan in Occupation Road saying that at least (when the game is replayed) we will have watched 55 minutes of free football.

"These fans can now choke on those words along with the wonderful half price offer' from the Watford marketing deptartment who, no doubt, were being directed to make this laughable offer."

The Watford statement acknowledged there had been some "feedback" following the announcement, that the club "appreciate" comments from fans and that "we attempt to take your views into consideration whenever big decisions are made".

It continued: "As regards the Wigan match, it is important to point out that the main factor in the pricing decision is to contribute to the costs borne by the club for staging another Premier League fixture at Vicarage Road.

"For the club to continue the great progress made over the last four years, we have always stressed that every decision has to be backed up by sound business logic.

"Although in many cases it would be easier to make decisions based on pure emotion, our obligation is to ensure we also operate responsibly as a business.

"Every time we play at Vicarage Road there are considerable behind the scenes' expenses involved with staging a game. Every turnstile operator, steward, programme salesperson, catering staff member and countless other matchday staff have to be paid - because, even on a day when the game is abandoned through inclement weather, they have still completed their jobs.

"There is also the matter of paying for the significant policing presence which ensures that each matchday passes off smoothly and, of course, these costs will not be waived just because the records will never show the original fixture as having been played.

"By asking those fans who bought tickets to the original match to pay £10 for the re-staged game, we are simply looking to contribute towards those costs."

The statement concluded that the total cost of the two games - £30 - was less than many clubs have charged to watch Watford in one match this season.
