Whichelow scores hattrick for the reserves http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...0166.Whichelow_scores_hat_trick_in_friendly/? Sounds like hes getting too big for his boots, time to ship him off to league 1 again and destroy his confidence I reckon
Realllllllllllllly hope he at least makes the bench on Friday! Hope the amount of L's emphasises how much I want that!
I think that will earn him a place on the bench on Friday. Seeing as we conceded 2, Mirfin wont be!!!
I can't understand why we've barely used him this season, looked the part last season and had the ability to come off the bench and change games. PNE at home anyone?
He stepped up and proved himself last season, he should have been given a chance this season long before now.
From what I've heard his first team chances have been limited by his poor fitness which was there for all to see last season. He has spent the last few months trying to lose some weight and build up his fitness levels. Hopefully he has done that and his hattrick is a sign of things to come.
He has to get a place on the bench sometime soon surely? We are in dire need on creativity and spark in the side and Witchelow has proved that not only can he set up goals as well, he can score them too.
Whichelow is as good a player as i've seen at this club probably since Ashley Young. Naturally gifted with both feet, quick, strong and clever. I went to Reading away last season and he played at the top of a diamond behind Graham and Weimann and the Reading defence/midfield couldn't get to grips with him all day. It's about time he was given an opportunity in this new set-up. He's a million times better than Horshyte and Yeates put together! The prospect of Whichelow playing just off Sordell would scare the sh*t out of any defence in this division.
What happened with Piero Mingoia? Thought he joined Brentford on loan? Good to see Whitchelow back in the picture as well. with 7 subs on Friday, a place on the bench surely?
Forsythe and Yeates would still be playing though. I think we have all seen enough of Wichelow to say that after six months of no first team action, he must be prepared for it by now. The kid did ok last season when he was thrown in. Granted he may have needed to adjust himself to his more natural level at his age and experience, but fark me when exactly is he going to start getting games?
*Whichelow, I also believe it's called the development squad not the reserves. Having said that I spelled Independent wrong earlier so I can shut up.
Creative, has vision, pace, strength for his size, great technical ability, good with both feet, can play all across midfield...ship him out before the end of Jan, he's not needed here.
J.B is spot on with what he said, most of you are being rather ignorant of the reasons why he wasn't playing. His lack of first team actions has been through his severe lack of fitness, rapid weight gain - and "lifestyle" issues, all of which he has spent the first half of this season amending. Having had a brief social interaction with him he's actually a very nice guy, and equally down to earth. He's technically superior to almost anyone in the squad other than Sordell and in the near future i'm sure he'll get his chance, and we'll reap the rewards - if he can get his head down, he has the potential to be the next big thing to come out the academy.
He has bags of ability, but as GT use to say, ability is only 10% of what you need to make it in the game. Went off to Yeovil was it ? and couldn't get a game bacause of his fitness and approach. If he can get him self fit then he will be a great asset
Far less talented players have made a good career for themselves through hard work. Hopefully he's got himself sorted out and realized what it takes to make it at this high level. He could potentially have a big impact on the last half of our season.
Tony Loughlan's comments interest me. He says nice things about him & that's the first time anyone from the Dyche party has done that this season. Perhaps they finally think he's ready to resume being a footballer again. Obviously something has gone wrong because he wasn't even getting a game at Exeter, but I think being unceremoniously dumped until that loan move would have hindered his progress enormously.
I don't know if you are being serious, but I agree with that sentiment. It's all very well saying players aren't ready, or they aren't good enough, or they can't cut it at lower league sides on loan, but unless we give them a chance, we are never going to know. I could understand the reticence to play some of our home-grown youngsters if the incumbent jobbers were performing, but they are patently not, so why on earth aren't we drip feeding some youngsters in from the bench at least? This reminds me of the Lewington era when kids were given the boot too early. Mark me, if Dyche is still here in 2 years, we'll have a flood of "why did we let XXXX go" threads, as our "not good enough youngsters" who were released, go on to be stars elsewhere.
] Exactly..ok some of the other youngsters might prove to be nervous etc if we threw them in but he did perform well when given the chance and scored a few important goals. An option of pace anyway on the bench would be useful! True he needs to keep fit and working on his game but then that is up to the mangement to keep saying that.
I was being serious. FA Cup = 7 players on the bench, scored a hat-trick midweek, been denied a place in the first team all season.. if he isn't up and chomping for a chance and given a place on that bench then he must have seriously ****ed up with the management and coaching team
I think that he should be rewarded for his hat-trick by a place on the bench. I think that some of his pace and energy can be put to good use in the last 15 mins or so when players are suffering from fatigue. Also if we want a player to build on these performances you have to throw him into the mix to see how they adapt. His confidence will be high and will run himself to the ground to prove he is worthy to be in the first team. I thought he did extremely well last year and would really like to see more of him, hopefully in the upcoming league games with teams around us in the league.
What ive seen of Whichelow hes a flair player, hes got the ability to make it at this level, but remember flair players cant do it every week. Some Watford fans expect miracles, he got injured at the start of the season and missed pre season training and has had to play catch up.
