Hodson and Doyley have done well considering they have had to play out of position, especially young Hodson has been great lately.

Thompson has played well when hes come in apart from Middlesborough when he had a mare.

Andrew Taylor was good but took him 12 GAMES TO SETTLE IN.

Bennett needs more game time, great pace one for the future.

Mapps and Tiny have been brilliant.

We will never afford Taylors wages and Thompson is still raw (but a great prospect) lets hope he has the character of Hodson when he has a bad spell and the crowd get on him because all young players do have dips.

and Loach i think will prove everyone wrong hardest position on the pitch and he will become good.

I definitely remember Thommo playing at left back for at least one game this season. I think it was in the second half of a night game in the league.

Second half of Notts County, when we lost 2-1.

I am certain he played LB there.

Your thinking of Preston when Doyley went off injured Thompson came on at RB
    and Hodson went to LB.

I'll take your word for it then. Not that I even know why we are talking about Thompson playing LB?

I think the OP's being abit harsh on MM and the team tbh. We where one of the favourites for relegation in pre-season and even the highest expectations that most Watford fans had was that we may be able to finish 21st - yet here we are near the end of the season, we have our highest points total for 3 years and until recently where still in the play-off hunt having played some really good football at times. I would say MM, if anything, has done a fantastic job.

As for not dropping players because they are his mates - well who would you drop them for? We have next to no money to buy players, we have struggled to get loans in and most of the youth players arnt up to championship football week in, week out yet.

Dont get me wrong the back 5 have been error prone, but we knew they would be before the season started and it is frustrating that they seem to be making the same mistakes over & over again - Loach in particular needs to work on his decision making, communication and command of the area.
I also think we dont handle being under sustained periods of pressure well - especially from corners & set peaces. We bring everyone back, leave no one forward and sit too deep. When we clear the ball it just comes straight back at us.

And as previous posters have said the midfield need to shoulder some of the blame for this seasons defensive howlers - you could put forward a fairly decent arguement that in some ways we have missed mutch/mcginn more than a left footed fullback.

Personally i think that if by some miracle we can keep hold of our key players (unlikely i know) while adding to the squad over the summer we can push on for the play-offs next year atleast.
