I think it is a bit stupid we can't, what happened to freedom of speech?I don't think it could be called slander if we discussed it, we're just discussing what we've heard in the paper like we would a transfer rumour e.t.c. The fact is its been in more than one paper and so there is a chance its true. We don't want to be like the club and start covering up every little thing that goes wrong, its just irritating. Im sure the club are preparing a statement that its nothing to convince us everythings ok, maybe it is all rubbish, but if its true, our club will still deny it, there was even a page article on how our club hide from the press in the telegraph not too long ago. Im pretty sure the message boards wasn't the real start of the old king rumours, but the club were scared thats where views were being spread and thats why they shut it, doesn't seem like the action of people that had nothing to hide, don't take this wrong, I'm not trying to start the old King debate off again, but i know a guy whos v. good mates with Kevin Affleck, he was talking to Kevin who said the club have treated him well this year and he travels with the team and stuff but he says they clearly cover stuff up and every time he writes his view as the reporter and it goes against watfords view they are always calling him into meetings and stuff. To say we can't discuss something thats come up im the press about our club on message boards is a bit over the top really, not even a poll to say whether or not people believe it or not? To answer your question there were certain comments on the original thread that myself and Hornmeister felt should not be viewable to passing browsers, namely someone (no names mentioned) linking it with a comment about another one of our players who bad rumours have circulate about in the past. Be it tongue in cheek or not, it is not something that we can advocate or promote on here, you are obviously allowed to speak your mind on here, the only thing that we ask is that when it is of something of this nature that you restrict yourself to what you know rather than just assuming and guessing. This is a very serious matter as I am sure you will agree and to allow it to escalate into a thread that undermines other people in no way connected to it would have been wrong in the extreme.
More likely the club cannot say anything as its under investigation so do not want to either defend or blame Marlon for something that may have happened.
It was mentioned that the police has asked the club not to comment further than they have, so to be fair to the club they are doing as they are told. We have to do what is best for the forum as we all know it is heavily scrutinised by the club now and we have to be warey if what is allowed to be said on here, especially when it comes to legal things.
Simple. If I get sued, or even receive the threat of action the board is dead in the water. You all know it's overly complicated with MK, Carlise, the officials etc etc. but could that be respected in the first MK thread for a while? Fat chance.
Surely these boards couldnt be shut down as the board itself should protect itself from comments made by us irks. In other words, surely the club would have to attempt to sue an individual rather than a website?? I personally agree with the poster... the internet is all about expressing views (to certain extents excepting racial, sexist, homophibic etc etc comments) Cant see any problem in talking about what essentially is just A RUMOUR! What the club failed to appreciate is that rumours fizzle out when they arent fed. By shutting down the boards, they raised more question marks. Now theres more news coming out about Marlon THE VERY LEAST THEY SOULD DO IS SIMPLY ACKNOWLEDGE that there has been an incident and kindly inform everyone that the police have asked them not to comment for now. Watford Football Club should be the first to let us all know VIA THEIR WEBSITE, when something relating to our beloved club occurs. Sadly, and much more often than not, they're usually last!
SUED?! You would not get sued because some watford fans on a website were discussing a rumour about King, i think people are getting overly concerned about Simpson saying he contacted lawyers about the old king rumour

Even though I still disagree as you clearly dont want this discussion to go further and i think its good the way youve set up these boards and what you've done with them i won't bother arguing
