DG10 is hard to replace (although I can see him coming back on loan if he doesn't start scoring for Swansea), Loach will not be.

Careful with the football talk mate, it might go over most of the heads. Probably wasting your time.

The reason loach has had no pressure on him is because we do not have the money to sign a player that is currently rated at around 2mill plus like him,and no other keeper is going to come here and sit on the bench every week, and personally I can't think of a keeper we can afford that is better than him.

And in reply to Potguy, its typical that you name the mistakes he has made, which all keepers do,but how many times has he kept us in games that you fail to name, because I can think of loads where he has made brilliant saves and we have either won or drawn a game that we didn't deserve to get anything from.

Also someone mentioned the Barnsley goal,no way he could of done anything about that and also 2 defenders infront of him should have dealt with that cross that was launched in at pace.Oh he also pulled off 2 great saves as well at Barnsley that earned us that point.

If he "walks out on us in January" because he was dropped then we are better off without him.

I was surprised that Loach was dropped when he was, as he has looked much better this season than last - probably due to ****o's excellent covering. However, from watching the TV recording of the Forest goal over and over again it looks to me that while the defenders were initally at fault, an assertive goalkeeper would have come and collected. Loach did make one very good save though - which supports the common view that he's a good shot-stopper but a poor decision-maker.

I haven't been a fan of Gilmartin's handling, but he did nothing wrong on Tuesday and was certainly an improvement on Loach in that he left his defenders in no doubt as to what he was going to do.

So is Loach a promising keeper who will iron out his defects in time, or is he the next Richard Wright? Is Gilmartin a butter-fingered liability or a good keeper who made a couple of bad mistakes early on? I've no idea, and maybe Sean doesn't either, but giving Loach time out to work on his game while finding out what Gilmartin is about is a positive step which may benefit both keepers and the club.

totally agree. The trouble is if he hasn't sorted out some basics by now will he ever ?

I think his shot stopping in general is very very good, as long as its not from distance, but as you say his decision making isn't great. That poor decision making though tends to effect his starting position or set up which has been exploited by people shooting from long distance at him.

From what I've seen Gilmartin has only made the one clanger against Brighton.

I'm made the comparison to Richard Wright many many times. I think if Loach was top draw then he would have been snapped up by now. The fact that we have had one half hearted effort from Spurs and no other formal approach suggests that top clubs aren't prepared to take a risk against his potential at this time.

I think he will turn out, like Kenny, Marshall, Davis, Camp, Myhill, Sparoni, to be a good honest championship keeper. From what i have seen so far I don't see him as being any better than most keepers in this league.

Re the goal against Forest, if Tiny had headed the ball away, no one would have spent one second talking about what did happen next! however Tiny didn't head it, ****enson didn't do what he should have done and Loach was in the wrong place all three were responsible for conceding one goal. Our forwards (and the rest of the team) didn't manage to score hence we lost a game.

I believe the manager took the bold decision not just on that goal but on the general assumption that he needed to make a change, and give Gilmartin a chance, our play had got a bit sterile with SL's distribution telegraphed and no plan B. Plus it should do Scott a favour as he will realise that he has be step up his game a bit and he isn't guaranteed a place (something which could well have been assumed) considering the run he has had. I'm sure he will be back in the team in a few games time and better for being rested (notice I didn't say dropped)
