Why is Malky Going?

It seems like this is a question that is being avoided and not discussed at all on here.

I would like to know why people think that Malky has seemingly made his mind up that he wishes to leave the club and go to Cardiff after becoming 'disillusioned' just six months since he signed a new three-and-a-half year at the club and effectively rejected the opportunity to go to a much more stable and ambitious club in Burnley.

You ask this question, yet I know your answer. You will blame Bas, his lack of a plan and the fact that clearly there is something bad happening in the background.

But so far, Bas has not done a single thing wrong. This MM situation for instance, if blamed upon him, its ludicrous. He rejects an approach, everyone celebrates his back bone, yet he is forced into a corner by MM supposedly close to resigning judging by reports.

So JB, what is your answer to your own question?

Agree that money has a lot to do with it,but he also probably feels that he has a far greater chance to manage in the prem with Cardiff rather than with us.They also have a new(ish) lego built stadium in which they get over 20k most weeks.Im sure all of these are major factors.

I do not wish this to be a Colonel-bashing thread as it will only go one way and will destroy the threads purpose so I will wait a bit for the thread to progress until I reply.

Also, I do not necessarily agree with those stating that money is the cause. It could just as easily be argued that Malky would have had a similar amount of money to play with at Burnley and would have had a lot less pressure and chance of success there than Cardiff.

A better chance of getting a team into the Premiership. It is a gamble however that the owners of Cardiff keep ploughing funds in.

Even if Malky fails and gets sacked he will end up getting a big pay off

The reason he has gone is due to him progressing in his career. He see's Cardiff as a chance to move onto the Prem. If he stays with us and we are in a relegation scrap, he can kiss any chances of a bigger move goodbye

IMO its just a natural progression -he has done his training a good two years, he has many plaudits in the football world, his esteem and confidence in his own ability has possibly allowed him to take stock of his shirt term career plans and maybe feels its in EVERYONES interest, his and wfc's to leave now when he wanted by someone to give all parties ample time to prepare for the new season...

All this blame game stuff really makes my fur stand on end - somntimes its just a simple answer -no blame attached, things happen, things change and new challenges arise -as i have said before what is the big deal that MM is going to cardiff?

He probably has sense enough to know we will struggle next seaosn and by October the wfc unfaithfull will be booing and jeering not only him but the young suad he would managing -at least a new man at the helm would get the grace of a season before being started on by the masses.

MM has done all he can at WFC - the only place he can take us is down next seaosn or at best a relegation struggle.

If he stays fine if he goes fine.... wfc must have the largest amount of female fans in the world and they all get their period at the same time, the moment they log onto wfcforums.....

Good post. Whether we like it or not, they are a bigger club than us. More money, more fans and more potential to get in the Premier League.

Surprised people even care considering they've been calling for his head consistently over the last 2 years.

Good post ? You farkin real ? The bearmeister talks the only sense on here. And for your information I have it on good authority that Malky left cos the fish n chips are better at Dai Daps Over The Hill Chippy down at Cardiff Docks than at the vic. Fact.

As PYA touched on, the timing is probably a big factor. He may well have wanted to leave for Burnley, but felt it would damage the club to change managers mid-season. This way he gets to leave, whilst allowing a new manager to settle in and change the squad as he desires before the season starts. Why he signed a new contract however, I have no idea.

    Security.

He got a wage rise and if sacked a bigger pay-off.

For the club it meant a better compensation package due to his better wage.

Money - Both salary and budget.

Opportunity - Short term chances of taking Cardiff to the premier league are better than taking Watford there.

Personally I dont give a monkeys whether he stays or goes. I just want it done so we can move on and prepare for this season. If anything it should spur our players on next season to prove him wrong.

    Conspiracy theory.

Malky wanted to go to Burnley, the board said no.

Malky said "fine but I want a better contract and a get out clause if a bigger club come in again in future".

MM forsees the sale of Graham and other players without replacement, says "I'm going to find any club that wants me, if they finished higher in the league than WFC I can go as per the clause in the contract".

Reason for the poor end of season - MM knew he was going to leave this summer in January.

  22. PaddingtonsYellowArmy

    PaddingtonsYellowArmy First Team Captain

why not - we then get compo for him if he is poached and if he is not poached he would have signed a new deal - If he new he was leaving, why sign a new deal and make it more expensive for a future club to take him on, which he could have half the compo as wages instead and they would still be quids in...

Anyone thought that MM was looking after everyones interest n this... Who knows what gies on, we knew DG as going - who may have known MM was going, who may have know JW was going etc etc etc....

I think MM has just earned us £400k and well done the board of directors for getting a new contract signed.

The numpty scum wfc unfaithful would be ripping the bords arms and legs off had MM been able to walk away for very littlle...

Please can the scum canuts just do one thing -turn up at the vic, buy some cola, wine gums or of old enough, some beer and a 50/50 ticket and go ra ra ra every now and then to upset the old codgers in the lower rous who are having their afternoon nap....

Has anyone also considered he's been at the same club as player, coach and manager for 6 years. We all need a new start once in a while before we go stale.

As Pads said the new contract has worked out well for the both of us and he has acted in good faith, as you would expect from a loyal servant to the club.

I think it's fair to say he's done his bit and maybe it's time with new owners and all the comings and goings that a new manager will freshen up the place.

i'm greatful to Malky for his loyal passionate service over the last 6 years and for navigating us through a very sticky situation. If he stays fabulous! If he goes, goodbye, good luck and thank you!

Lets face it put yourself in his shoes. 6 years good service, steaded a rocky ship, our sales show we are resigned now to not even being a potential yo yo team and he is young. We love Watford and Watford is in our blood but it is not in his. He was not a boyhood fan he is doing a job and has been offered a promotion plain and simple. Let us thank him for what he has done and move on to whoever is next because whoever he is will either do a crap job or a good job and either way we will be in this position again in the next 1 - 2 years.

I have a funny feeling about Aidy .....................
