I remember a Duxberry interview, or perhaps an at our place, where Duxberry showed off that our model meant that we could move quicker than others when “top” players become available at the end of transfer windows.

How many signings do we make early in transfer windows? From memory, we seem to be linked with players all window, to then sign four players in the 24 hours before the deadline.

I see your point but not many since being in the PL are signed on Deadline Day. This website does the seasonal breakdown of incomings deals and the bulk seem to be made in July with a few in August - and a couple near Deadline Day.

I blame whoever decided that we would announce the substitutes before the starting eleven just before kick-off. It obviously confuses the players and leads to our downfall. Revert back to the correct way and we will be fine.

Everyone thought it was Z-cars being dropped, really the reason was far more simple.

 

In all seriousness, there’s absolutely no logical reason for doing this, is there? Is it a gimmick? If so, for what?

 

The Real Ale Bar is to blame.

Why is it now serving coffee and tea? All the other kiosks sell those things.. reserve it for real ale only! Couldn't get near it today.

 

Who knows.It's so stupid and pointless I assumed it had to be a FIFA regulation.

 

But we were told all summer that £20m was madness. To get a CB that we desperately need who is far better than what we have! No, what we really need is a winger who we refuse to integrate properly and pay £40m for the privilege...

 

How about Gary Cahill? Looked great for Palace today. He would have been a freebie as well, which is the type of defender the club loves. I'm surprised we didn't go for him......but I guess it's one of a long line of **** ups the club made over the summer.

 

I’ll admit I called that one completely wrong. Palace fans say he’s been a revelation for them, as a defender and a leader at the back.

 

Even Gary Cahill looks like he could’ve improved our defence.

As Joe E Brown said "nobody's perfect!"

 

Maybe we did go for him. Who knows. But if a player makes it clear he wishes to go somewhere else there's probably not much point in pursuing him too far. Same with Maguire?

 

That's a weak argument and blind speculation. Maybe we went for every player who has been a success for other clubs and it is just bad luck that Giraldi has ended up with the garbage defence that he has?

 

I think we should announce the defence and keeper, then all but one of the subs, then the midfield and forwards, then the final sub. Keeps it Interesting.
