Its a funny one this year. The team needed a reset. We have one but we really need to start well and build some confidence. I think I just really want to see solid progress. We still have Louza, Asprilla and I think Martins has a lot to offer. Hopeful

I genuinely just do not care any more. I've never felt so disconnected from this club or football in general.

My only expectation is that the season will be yet another complete shambles, because the club is run by disgustingly incompetent morons.

Thanks for posting, was just logging on to do it myself!

Yeah not too positive on Watford this year to be honest, mostly due to the problems I set out in the article I posted on here back in April, that the hire and fire stuff only works with a good squad that can get by on individual quality alone and doesn't need tactical continuity to succeed. I think the squad is better than 18th and I rate Ismael just not sure if they're a good fit and if history is anything to go by he won't be given the time to get things going. The owners would be better off accepting mid-table this year, giving Ismael time to implement his system and then have a crack at the playoffs in 24-25.

Watford were probably the hardest team to place though, the ceiling is probably higher than any other team I've put in the bottom half but I've gone for the lower end of the range because I value planning/continuity quite a lot in my predictions. Maybe these off-field changes will see things done differently but I'll have to see it before I believe it because we heard similar stuff last year with Rob Edwards.

Team's had a reset? Not all that sure about that.

A lot of weeding has been done, admittedly, but there are still so many players that I've grown tired of watching and we're so over-familiar with their limitations.

Bachmann, Ngakia, Gosling, Sema, Kalu, Kayembe. Blimey.

Livermore and Ince are about the two most depressing close season signings I can recall. Livermore was over the hill three years ago. Ince... just no thanks.

Louza, Koné and Asprilla are all highly promising but lightweight. Ferreira and Martins might have something about them. Healey could go either way but Ligue 2 is no great shakes and that's where he's scored most of his goals. He's the sort of player who might do well in League One.

By "reset" presume you mean move on anyone we can, plus sell the saleable assets to pay down debt and end up with a cheap and threadbare squad ?

What do you mean by "solid progress"? Finishing higher than last season ? Paying off debt and avoiding relegation ?

I think they’ll do well to get close to last season’s 63 points bearing in mind the three top scorers have left. Joao Pedro 11, Sarr 10, Davis 7. Next on the list was Louza with 5.

I'm bucking the trend here (sorry).
Recent seasons have been a horror show, nothing worked, new players had no impact, new managers no impact, we were a sinking ship.
There was Never going to be a revolutionary change of 12 senior players out and 12 high class players coming in. So what have we seen...
*New manager that likes hardwork/attacking/pressing - and won't accept passengers.
*big clear out of stale players.
    *balanced management/coaching team.
*new signings that have played in this country before.
*new signings that have played in the championship before.

And I've felt for years that it just cannot be that every single new player we get turns to rubbish as soon as he puts on a watford shirt. There are some existing players that could come good if we play to their strengths for once.

So I'm quietly hopeful that this season will be an improvement at last and we may see a "coherent team" emerge as time progresses that we can get behind and enjoy the ride.
    I'm going for a 5th to 7th place finish....

I think people saying the team have had a reset are the same sort of people that say things like, getting relegated would be good for their side and allow them to move forward.

Yes I feel most of the players gone were just out on loan or out of contract/pretty close with the exception of Pedro tbh .

This is the season Sarr finds his scoring boots and with Pedro getting better by the game there will be nothing in our way

I am going to place a bet on relegation. It is worth a punt. I'll be happy to lose my stake money.
No media pundit that l have read so far have Watford finishing above 10th.
No higher than 15th/16th for me.

I am quietly confident of our chances this year. We have had a long overdue clear-out and every outgoing is one I wanted to happen, even Pedro as he is too good for us.

I find it amazing how many people are still coming to terms with the original relegation from the Premier League during lockdown. Gino's house was built on sand and it was only a matter of time before it came crumbling down, even if we staved off relegation that season it would have happened within 2 years anyway. In a way I am glad it has happened because we needed a complete reset and it feels like that is this season. Stop the nonsense sackings every 3 months and stop signing dud players to line the pockets of Bayat and allow the team to flourish. There have been so many players who are no where near the level required for either the Premier League or Championship.

Pedro will be bagging goals for Brighton and Sarr will be on the bench for Marsielle. :)

Interesting. A bit harsh in Plymouth, I think they will do enough to stay up. Us finishing 5th is very generous, but without another striker coming in scoring goals will be a problem this season. For Norwich to not make the playoffs is also a bit of a stretch, they have a good side and are settled. QPR, I sort of agree with, have been in a downward spiral for a long time.

Not saying that Plymouth have as good a chance of doing something as Ipswich, but they finished ahead of them last season with 100 points! I didn't follow League 1 religiously last season, but no team that gets 100 points is going to be a pushover

Clearly the club’s expectation is promotion.

Dan said it gleefully as he got a 5 year deal. Dan talks a load of nonsense on the pitch, so I ignored it.

In the Lewis interview just released by the club, he states he’s excited to help get the club back into the premier league.

If Gino seriously thinks promotion is even a possibility then he’s off with the fairies. Ismael must know he’s already on his way out if promotion is the target.

Our first two games are home to the predicted bottom two teams, Home to QPR who beat us twice last season, considering they lost 5-0 at Oxford today with one of their centre half’s injured with no apparent replacements you have to feel we couldn’t have asked for a easier home game, but this is WFC we are talking about!

Our second game is home again to Plymouth who as has been mention got 100 points last season, they won’t have any fear but hopefully we will have seen off QPR and be on a high and gain the three points but again it’s WFC we are talking about! Prediction we will get either 0,1,2,3,4 or 6 points from the first two games!

I'd agree where we are, there or thereabouts on the proviso that we sign a senior CB, CDM and ST this window. If we get those 3, I'd say we're in the Top 3.

I wonder if the stability have signings more or less arranged, but are being a bit blasé about it because our first two fixtures are easier on paper? Then again, money is tight so they might be pulling all the stops to get players in with our limited means!
