If you weren't already feeling grim enough this morning, desperately clinging on for Saturday with a week of drudgery behind you, trying to shake off those increasingly frequent and painful Friday morning hangovers, Mediawatch - with the help of Phil Jones - is going to make you feel really, really *****ing old.

Jones said on Thursday: "Euro '96? No, I don't remember that. I would only have been 4. I remember going on the terraces at Blackburn, with my dad carrying me over the turnstiles, and going to see the likes of Matt Jansen, players like that.

"Not Alan Shearer. That would be too early. I remember the 2002 World Cup. Was that when Ronaldinho chipped David Seaman? I watched the first half at home and then I went to primary school and I thought, 'I can't miss the second half.' So I got there, had my breakfast and we watched the game."
