The rearranged fixture at Vicarage Road gives the bottom club a golden chance to enhance their prospects of top-flight survival.
But Wigan will also view this as a game which would significantly improve their own position, with a win taking Paul Jewell's side eight points clear of the relegation zone.
The Hornets have a near full-strength squad to choose from and Adrian Boothroyd will look for a continuation of the form which has seen his players win four of their last six games in all competitions.
Boothroyd can also welcome back several players who missed the weekend's FA Cup fifth round win over Ipswich Town.
Ben Foster is available after recovering from a bruised thumb, so he will replace Richard Lee in goal.
Malky Mackay has shaken off a calf complaint and Jordan Stewart has overcome a minor knee injury, so both could start.
Fellow defenders James Chambers and Clarke Carlisle played for the reserves earlier in the week, although they are unlikely to feature.
Gareth Williams, Lee Williamson and Will Hoskins are available after being cup-tied, but Marlon King remains out with a long-term knee injury.
Wigan have received mixed news on the injury front as The Latics look to improve a record of one win in 11 Premiership matches.
Henri Camara is back in the squad after two months out with a knee ligament injury, although he may start on the bench.
But first-choice goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is out with a thumb injury and his understudy Mike Pollitt has a thigh complaint.
Jewell signed Carlo Nash on loan from Preston and he will vie with John Filan for the chance to start in goal.
    Skysports.com Prediction: 1-1
Two teams desperate for a win might have to settle for a point.
