Bawling. Or if you really meant balling then you’re a very lucky fella. Especially as you were probably about nine at the time.

The semi at WHL vs Chelsea was even more devastating in my memory

Definately crying my eyes out and I was 8 at the time. There were Spurs fans nearby and they were very kind which made the day a little better.

Was surprised to see the going down easy nature of the Arsenal players, didn’t think that sort of thing happened back then.

That team of Coton, Gibbs, Rostron, Richardson, Sims, McClelland, Bardsley, Blissett, Falco, Porter, Barnes is probably the best side we've ever had. Only Callaghan missing really from that era. That was a very special team.

Only finished 9th, but that's still our 2nd best ever finish, and an FA Cup semi final.

    What a day that was!
I can still see Steve Williams moaning at the ref as we went up the other end and scored!
    Happy days...

Also demonstrated that Motson was a **** commentator and got considerably worse after that - should have had the screens pulled round him a lot earlier, possibly immediately after the 1977 Cup Final. ****

Glory days , mate had a flat 100 yards from Highbury , loads of us in there after the game serenading the poor gooners . Yes Williams was a class A c@ckwomble.

I went by club coach to that match (free ticket & travel). After the match we got back on board quickly as Arsenal fans had a reputation for infiltrating the away end. We sat down at the back of the coach and started chatting about how brilliant the match was. Others got on the coach as you would expect. A couple came up towards the back and then started punching us. Only Arsenal fans! They ran off as soon as they'd hit out, leaving us gobsmacked (my friend literally so but he was ok). Cheeky f******s!

went home by tube - gooners were surprisingly generous in defeat

You were lucky! I also remember when we won there 4-2 in the league a few years earlier. We scored and pockets of fights in the away end erupted as groups of gooners had infiltrated our end and just hit people at random standing next to them. Scary stuff!

The worst example of that I can remember was at Chelsea in 1979, just after we had been promoted to Div 2. It was our first ever visit to Stamford Bridge and a lot of Chelsea fans made a well organised infiltration of the away end incognito and attacked us just as the teams ran out.

Wimbledon away on new year's eve 1977 - Chelsea game was off and a lot of them turned up in the away end at Plough Lane. (we won 3-1)

I had no issues either apart from the mate I went with ( a gooner) didn't talk to me for about 4 years after this and I'm not exaggerating!

They actually came out of that season well.

Best Liverpool to win the League Cup whilst we then went and lost to Spurs with a pub waiter in goal!

More annoyingly they lost to Luton in the final next year !

My memory of that game is that we all turned up at Plough Lane and just went in at the nearest entrance, which turned out to be the home end, but it didn't matter because the vast majority of the crowd were Watford fans anyway.
