Watford FC Team of the Decade

Just saw Luther give his Watford XI of the decade, some very strange choices!

His team:

What would yours be?

 

I don't know how you can have a team of the decade without including the only player to play and score in every single season for us for the whole decade.

 

No Carl ****inson or Craig Forsyth?

 

The difficulty is choosing a First XI of managers/head coaches.

 

Hoban? Ekstrand? Hughes? Anya?

Really bizarre choices there

But all the grandads say he's fat so he's excluded.

Should be room for some of our pre-Pozzo players... Danny Graham? 24 goals in one season

 

Not sure the one year he’s played for us in this decade is enough really when up against Deeney/Ighalo/Vydra.

Not a very busy time of year, so by say 9.00pm?

 

Senility is clearly kicking in for Luther, which is worrying because he’s the same age as me.
He’s still my hero, though.

 

No wonder they haven’t given Luther a job on the coaching staff yet. Shocking team.

Abdi was class and scored some great goals but Watson played a bigger role in us going up and staying up. Ake was fantastic for us and I'm putting him in his best position whether u like it or not By the end of his career Ake will probably have surpassed every Watford defender in our history bar McClelland and Galli. But yeah football is all about different opinions. If u pick Abdi that's fine by me, I'm not gonna wet the bed!

 

Biggest challenge for me would be Vydra or Ighalo. Can't include both. Deeney & Abdi are a must.
FF, no chance....

I think a worst team of the decade would be more fun.

How is it possible to omit the first player since tommy mooney to be considered a true watford legend?

One of the most naturally gifted goal scorers we've ever had.

Who can forget his stellar scoring exploits in the 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth?

Cometh the hour, cometh the man... Gabriele Angella.

 

Admit that's a bizarre selection.

I'd go 2 up top, definitely Deeney and probably Iggy based on his good 1 1/2 seasons and as a result he edges out Vydra tbh.

Goalkeeper I think I'd go Gomes but it's close purely due to the penalty and "Almunia saves again".

Defence seem strange including Hoban but had it not been for injuries I'm sure he'd have developed in to a quality centre back for us.

 

Amazed that people are not picking big Chris ilewelemelou

 

Special mention to Martin Taylor. First goalscorer in the Pozzo era. I was at that match at Selhurst Park. Unbelievable.

 

Anyone failing to name Doyley is dead to me.
